GPA: 3.33
School/Major: Top 5 US Engineering School, Industrial Engineering. As in calculus, prob, stat, and other math courses. Bs and some Cs in advanced engineering courses.
GMAT: 760, 49 Q and 46 V
Work Experience: 1 year as a tech consultant at a software company, 2 years as a strategy consultant at Accenture, promoted after one year (normal is 2-3).
Extra Curricular Activities: Currently part of a program to mentor college students at my undergrad alma mater. Also part of a diversity outreach mentoring program through work. Recently started volunteering regularly at an organization that helps refugees assimilate in the US. "Ad-hoc" volunteering at food banks, animal shelters, and tree-planting events. Was the head of community service committee for Residence Life (RAs) in college.
Gender/Ethnicity/Facts: Male. Bangladeshi immigrant (citizen now). Moved to the US as a kid because parents thought my siblings and I would have better educational opportunities if we grew up in the US school systems. Parents work in "unskilled" retail jobs and we were very poor when I was young.
Goals/Reason for MBA: Leverage experience working in operations strategy to help transform companies in terms of costs, efficiency, and adaptability to new processes and technologies. I understand that I can do this in consulting, but I feel it would be more impactful to do this as part of the organization in their corporate strategy group.
Target Schools: HBS, Stanford, Wharton, Booth, Columbia, Sloan, Kellogg (aiming high, I know)
I'm planning on applying during round 1 and 2. Do I have a good shot at these schools? Any glaring weaknesses? Anything I can work on between now and then?
