Definitely the recent process-quality initiatives taken by our company have started to pay off.

Vice President of Codal: The recent decision taken by Project Gutenberg’s manager to utilize old code, i.e., previously utilized code, is more likely the reason for the reduction in the number of errors

still the improvement can be due to old codes. incorrect

correct. if this has been the case, recent decision isn't the prime reason for improvement

Not sure how C is the correct answer, can someone provide official explanation?

The COO of Codal says that the Project Gutenberg team has made fewer errors per thousand lines of code this year than in the past years, and this is because of the process-quality initiatives taken by Codal. But the Vice President thinks the reduction in errors is because the Project Gutenberg team is using old code. We need to find the statement that challenges the Vice President's theory the most.

Option C is the correct answer. It says that other teams at Codal that did not use old code also had a reduction in errors. So, it's not just because of the old code used by the Project Gutenberg team, but rather the process-quality initiatives taken by Codal.

In simpler terms, the Vice President thinks the reduction in errors is only because of old code used by the Project Gutenberg team, but option C shows that other teams without old code also had fewer errors, which means the old code is not the only reason for fewer errors.

Additional information. Doesn't impact the validity of the hypothesis.

C. The teams at Codal that did not utilize old code reported a significantly higher reduction in the average number of errors in their code.
This highlights that 'utilization of old code' is not the reason for reduction in the number of errors, thus emphasizing the weakness of the Vice president's hypothesis.

D. The average number of errors per thousand lines of code delivered has been reducing for the past 3 years.
Additional information. Doesn't impact the validity of the hypothesis.

E. The Project Manager has not taken into account the data provided by other teams in the company.
Weakens the hypothesis a bit; however the stimulus (C) is a comparatively stronger in questioning the hypothesis.

(C) is the CORRECT answer
