Hey all,

I have a question regarding the registration process for the online GMAT. Previously, there didn't seem to be a cooldown period for registering for the online exam after taking it in person. However, I'm wondering if this has changed recently. I recently took the GMAT in person, and now I'm unable to register for the online exam. It appears that there are no available appointments until exactly 16 days after my in-person GMAT.

Any hints are appreciated.

You're correct. The cool-off period doesn't apply if there is a change in the exam format (online to in-person or vice versa). Did you get in touch with the customer support team to check if there has been a change in policy? It's quite surprising that GMAC will change its policies without a press release.

Alternatively, it might just be a coincidence that no appointments are available for the next 16 days :dontknow:

If I were you, I would check with customer support to see what's going on

Hi, I checked with a friend, and he had no issues booking an online appointment after the 24h, which are always needed in advance of an online gmat booking. I have contacted customer service, but since it is the weekend, won't get an answer until after. Perhaps it is a technical issue on their side, perhaps a change in policy that causes the cooldown. As other users in the forum have experienced this issue, I am not sure it is a coincidence.

Best,
Laurenz

Hi laurenztop99.

I've been hearing this type of story repeatedly over about the last month or two. So, either there's a bug in the system, or GMAC has changed the policy.

Your move may be to contact GMAC customer service to confirm one way or another what's going on. If you get an explanation, we'd all appreciate your sharing it.

YESSSSS!

I too experienced the same. I took my GMAT in-person exam on 20th June and wanted to give it another shot on 1st July. however, I could not book an appointment for the online exam. On reaching out to the GMAC Support, I learnt that there is a cooling period of 16 days between your in-person exam and online exam. However, if you have taken an exam online first, there is not cooling period and you can take in-person exam even on the next day.

Hope this helps.

Hi laurenztop99,

When switching between in-person and online, I don't think there is a cooldown period. Did you reach out to the folks at GMAC?

I am not allowed to post a link, but if you head to mba . com/exams-and-exam-prep/gmat-exam/should-i-retake-the-gmat

you can see that they state policies have been updated.
