I am a Software engineer in a FAAMG company with 4.5 year of product development work experience in the cloud domain. I want to pursue MBA to switch to Product Management or Tech Consulting in the technology industry. As an international candidate, realizing an opportunity with a H-1B sponsor employer is a must. Both the programs are STEM. I would like to go for an opportunity that has higher employment stat with lower investment cost. As of now, Olin has not given me any scholarship but they are willing to furnish me with some scholarship soon (I expect around 40% scholarship).
Olin
Pros-
1. 2-year program with more employment and internship opportunities that are convertible to full-time roles.
2. Relaxed MBA experience with better visibility in the tech consulting industry as well. (in addition to my logical move to the product management side)
3. Dual Master degrees.
Cons-
1. Brand value
2. Location
3. Opportunities not furnished by the Career center.
4. Expensive - around $90k (as of now), $40k (assuming 40% scholarship),
Cornell Tech MBA
Pros-
1. Brand
2. Merit Scholarship
3. Better cohort and active alumni
4. 1-year because you start earning early. (not that big if a pro, 2 years is also fine with me)
Cons-
1. Employment opportunities are less because there are no internship opportunities in this program.
2. Job-hunting along with academics will be stressful in 1 year.
As both the programs start pretty early, I need to make a decision. It will be great if I could get some insights/feedback from the gmatclub forum on both my options.
Given your objectives, would suggest you consider the Cornell Tech MBA. Its brand, location, and focus make it one of the best programs of its kind for people looking for tech management careers.
