Rhyme...you have a strong profile...are you looking @ Cornell as a backup? Seems like a great program that doesn't get much attention from folks on the board.

I'm pretty certain I will get in. I'm not as certain as I was a few months ago about going this year. I might get a new position as an analyst and continue with the CFA which might reduce my urgency to go this year. If I get into the analysis area of my company and get CFA L2 and ultimately the whole thing I might not "need an MBA" for a few yrs. If on the other hand that does not happen, I will have been knocking down doors somewhat unsuccesfully with great potential which would make my need all that more accute. Cornell will also give me some guidance as to where I should go next in terms of applications... up, down, or same level.

Cornell is sort of a backup yes. Not for any reason other than location - I am coming with my wife, and frankly, it's location is poor for her to be able to find gainful employment. It's a financial issue in part, but also one of her sanity - sitting at home for 2 years while I go get my MBA won't be fun for her, and it wont be fun for me.

A bigger city - Chicago, Boston, Washington D.C, etc -- just has much more to offer her. From my perspective, Cornell is absolutely a great school and I'd love to go, but I can't really expect to choose it over HBS, Kellogg or Chicago.

Nope.

Submitted my app on Oct 6, and went to commitee on Oct 13.

Right now it says: "Your application is complete and will be forwarded to the Admissions Committee for review."

Based on this timeline: "Submitted my app on 10/1 and it went to committee on 10/4."

So it took him 8 business days to get the interview. Based on that timeline, I should expect mine on Oct 25th. In theory.

To the guy with the interview, can you tell use about your profile?

GPA ? GMAT? Industry? Exp?

Mine:
GPA 3.0
GMAT 730
Industry: Financial Services and Consulting (IT)
Exp: ~6 years

Happy to share but I don't have a traditional background. I worked for AT&T Labs for several years commercializing digital distribution technology for the entertainment industry. Started a company after that in a similar space which was eventually sold. Worked in IT for a few years while my wife attended grad school.

Strong extracurriculars and community/societal focus. Interested in sustainable base of pyramid development in Asia. Interned in Hong Kong this past summer and intend to go back every summer up until graduation.

GMAT is my biggest weak spot which I'm addressing for R2 applications (Tuck, Wharton, Kenan-Flagler & Ross). Just started a Manhattan GMAT course.

GPA: 3.1
GMAT: 640
Industry: Entrepreneur/Media & Entertainment/High Tech
Exp: 9 yrs.
