Krishp84 makes a good point - one that I forgot to mention. While I still stand by my approach, things do change somewhat when you're faced with very limited time. In such circumstances, picking the first appealing choice may be necessary. Even simply guessing may be appropriate! But I stress that if you have the time and ability to find the answer, then those two methods should be avoided.

I agree krishp84 provides good summary to approach CR choices. I agree with bmillan01 in that it will on average be better to read all answer choices than to pick the first choice that you feel is correct. CR answer choices have a funny dynamics to them sometimes you will pick a totally wrong choice thinking that this just has to be the right one! So, in essence, don't make the approach you mentioned as a habit, use it only when under time pressure.

I am a victim of this. Last nigh, I was trying to answer a CR question and I prephased (predicted answer before moving onto the answer choices) and indeed my prephase was one of the answer choice word for word but I went with my heart and decided to do an analysis of all of the answer choices anyway and I found a latter answer choice to be most accurate and I believe I got that question right.

so yes, read all of the answer choices.
