E provides necessary information about how long it takes to cure cold and how far it supports cold cure by just applying gel on the nasal instead of mouth.

I chose D as well. I don't understand the OA at all. Do you have any OE?

E.

The argument says that gel is preferrable to the lozenge and it is because the it is more effective.

What will provide more information to evaluate this argument. How severe was the cold? Does the gel help in reducing the severity as well as the duration? If it does then perhaps I would go for the gel or else go for the lozenge.

You can also use PoE to eliminate others, because they don't seem to add any info important to the argument.

doesn't (B) provide a way to verify the authors argument that the gel is more effective because it targets the nose where the cold is present.
If it can be proved that another medicine taken orally can solve the problem, then the author's argument is not valid.

B is out of scope. Beware of this common trap. Any outside information brought into an argument is always suspect.

(E) stands because it seeks to verify to what extent the zinc has had on suppressing cold symptoms and duration.

can't agree more... B is COMPLETELY out of scope... we are talking specifically about zinc, so absense of it is not relevant.
