Hello guys,

I have just taken the free crack-gmat diagnostic test and been surprised and confused by the outcome.
I am also angry about the time I lost on spending on that test.

In the Quantitative section I scored a 49 score.
In verbal, though, test valued me at 16 which does not make sense. I got 22 out of the 41 questions right. Mistakes were spread among the 41 questions.

I know that I should not take that test into consideration, but had anyone else experienced something like this in this particular test, it would be nice to hear about it.

Thank you.

Hi InAthens,

The scoring algorithm on the Official GMAT is far more complicated than most people realize. Since that algorithm is proprietary, no GMAT company has an exact match for it, thus CAT scores can vary a bit based on the 'biases' involved in their respective designs. The most realistic CATs available are the 6 from GMAC (the 2 free CATs, and each of the 2 that come with Exam Pack 1 and Exam Pack 2), so it would be useful to know how you performed on one of those CATS. Have you taken any of those CATs yet? Once you have that score result, you should post back here and we can talk through what all of this data means.

Beyond that...
1) How long have you studied?
2) What materials have you used?
3) What is your goal score?
4) When are you planning to take the GMAT?

Too late to reply, but hopefully the post may help someone else.
I have just taken the free crack-gmat diagnostic test and felt the Quant section was worth attempting as the question quality was good with few poor quality questions. However, I feel the actual GMAT questions are different in terms of their traps and tricks. Nonetheless, I would advice to practice the Quant section.

Coming to verbal, the entire section was a waste of time. I barely found any similarity between the GMAT pattern and this one. Although RC was decent, Sentence correction was a disaster in resemblance of quality with that of GMAT while CR had more questions on parallel structure which is not even a pattern tested on GMAT. Additionally, this section had weird illogical questions which I had nowhere seen in the gmatclub.
I would not recommend Verbal section of this test.
Regarding the score, there is nothing to get disappointed in my opinion because verbal section must not have been a true representative of your verbal ability. Furthermore, result screen of the software claims that the actual GMAT score would be about 100 points more.
