Hi All,
I started my preparation for GMAT a week ago aiming to score above 700 (took leave from office) and opted for Kaplan for practice.
The following are my scores.
Day1(sep21)- Kaplan(2014) 700 Q50 V23 (shocked as I did not expect 700 at all)
Then one of friends who was preparing for GMAT suggested me to take Manhattan tests( more close to GMAT scores)
Day3- Manhattan
MGMAT CAT1 600 Q45 V28
I thought 600 seemed to be a realistic score at this stage, and finished Manhattan's SC guide in 8 hours and was very confident give a better performance for the following CATs.
Day4-Manhattan
MGMAT CAT2 610 Q46 V29(lol!! 8 hours of effort resulted only in an increment of 1 unit)
Reviewed the post exam analysis.
Day5-Manhattan
MGMAT CAT 3 620 Q47 V29
I was frustated at this point of time and decided only to take verbal section of CAT as I had no much time left for preparation.
Day 6- Manhattan
MGMAT CAT4 370 V31,Manhattan
MGMAT CAT4 380 V33(skipped the quant section)
Day-7 At this point of time I thought may be 1 week is not at all sufficient to get a score of 700 or above and decided not to waste my friday night, and had some beer with my room-mates( I Knew that if I had 8 hours of sleep, 3-4 pints of beer would not affect me either mentally or physically)
Day-8(sep28) GMAT 700 Q50 V34 (woww..I was expecting somewhere around 640 to 660!!)
Conclusion: Do not get demotivated by
MGMAT scores, quant section is tougher on
MGMAT CATs compared to actual GMAT and you could safely add 2-3 points more on quant and 1-2 points more on verbal on the actual GMAT.( I am talking about the 2013 version of the
MGMAT CATs)
I would also suggest to have beer the night before the D-day
