There are many benefits to timing your practice, including:
I graduated in Statistics from the University of Delhi 3 years ago and was working with the Knowledge Division of an MBB firm. Though my role gave exposure to some internal strategy projects, I realized that I needed to acquire some solid problem-solving skills and learn basic business fundamentals in order to start moving towards the next phase of my career. After doing my full-fledged research, I realized an MBA is the perfect way to address these things. While it would help me up my skillset, it would also give me a chance to network with diverse peers and grow personally.
Over a course of few months, I took my GMAT and scored a decent score to get into my target B-school - ISB (GMATClub has proven to be extremely helpful in this case!) Since I was a re-applicant (I didn't get an interview invite the first time), I was sure that I will need guidance on my essays to make sure I don't make the same mistakes. I came across Management Masters on LinkedIn - what really caught my eye was that they not only highlighted their success stories, but also mentioned the ones that didn't work out. This really struck a chord with me and I contacted them. After the introductory call, I was 100% sure that this is what I would want to go ahead with!
The entire process was extremely well thought-out - it didn't feel transactional at all, you felt that you were receiving genuine guidance, inputs, and direction. Through several workshops, I gained clarity on my strengths, weaknesses, skills that I have/don't have, and most importantly - my career aspirations. This is something I was never able to put in words (I was only confident about the space I would want to be in, and not the functional role) and the consultant really helped me put things in perspective. The process was a perfect combination of a hands-on approach but with a DIY aspect. After a detailed discussion on the ask of the essay and what all points I can write, I spent a few days on my first draft. The team had set well-defined deadlines which helped me stay on track, and was quick to respond to my essay drafts & other questions! It was really stress-free and I actually enjoyed the entire process.
I also signed up for their mock interview package before receiving the interview invite. We discussed commonly-asked questions, and I was provided a list of possible topics which can come up during the interview. We did mock interviews before receiving the interview invite as well as after receiving it. This was of immense help! The 4-5 days before the ISB interview were stress-free for me, all thanks to the structure of the mock interview package.
Fast-forward to D-day, I got my admit For someone who wasn't 100% sure of how helpful admission consultants could be for me, Management Masters changed my take on it. I think it's really helpful to have someone guide you through the process and give you valuable inputs/directions. Would definitely recommend them for ISB as well as international MBA/MiM programs. The consultant has himself gone through the entire process of applying and studying from the top programs, so you are assured that you are being guided by the right person!
