Hi shalabhg27,

Since you did not list your CAT results since you took the Official GMAT in October, I'm going to assume that your current Verbal 'ability level' is around a V26. If that is the case, then you lost significant points in all 3 major Verbal categories on Test Day (SC, RC and CR), so working on upper-level CR prompts is NOT what you should be focused on right now. That score is 5 months old though, so we need a realistic up-to-date score to assess your actual Verbal skills at this point. As such, you should plan to take a NEW, FULL-LENGTH CAT under realistic conditions - meaning that you should take a CAT that you have NOT taken before, in a location that is NOT your home, at the same time of day as your Official GMAT and you must complete ALL sections (including the Essay and IR sections). Once you have that score you should report back and we can discuss how best to proceed.

Hi shalabhg27,

Assuming that you took the FULL CAT and did so in a realistic fashion, then this score result is a good sign. GMAC has publicly stated that the Official Score that you earn on Test Day is within +/- 30 points of actual ability. Assuming a similar 'swing' in how your CATs function, this result means that you could potentially have scored 700 with a couple of 'tweaks' to your performance (of course, it also means that you could have scored 640).

I have a few questions about this CAT:
1) Did you have to rush to finish the Verbal section (and if so, then how many questions did you rush through/guess on?)?
2) Of the Verbal questions that you got WRONG, how many of them did you narrow down to a 50/50?
3) Of the Verbal questions that you got RIGHT, how many of them did you narrow down to a 50/50?
4) What 'steps' do you typically go through when dealing with a typical SC, RC and CR prompt? What type of notes do you take?
