Thoughts on this sentence being properly constructed?:
However, the amount of carbon dioxide added to the atmosphere when corn-based ethanol is burned is equivalent to the amount carbon dioxide that the corn from which the ethanol was made removed from the atmosphere as that corn grew.
Stopped me in my tracks as I read it.

It's perfectly okay, it just twisted the words.
It meant to say the carbon added to atmosphere let say 10% when corn based ethnol is burnt( which means the ethnol formed from corn) is equal to the carbon dioxide which corn intake while grewing. The line in between just state the relation between ethnol and corn.
