Esteemed forum members,
Greetings from a newbie!
I thought about posting the story of my GMAT life yesterday but I didnt want to be a spoilsport because I saw a couple of posts of other forum members who scored more than 700. Kudos to those guys and gals! Congratulations!
Well, yesterday was my first attempt and I scored a dismal 600 (Quant: 43, Verbal: 28). I am not sure how I performed so badly and am completely devastated right now. I dont know where to hide my face. I am just so embarassed in front of my family and friends.
Regarding the GMAT, I wasnt anxious or nervous or ran out of time. I thought I was performing well throughout the exam but obviously I wasnt. Regarding my Verbal, I got a couple of hard SC, RC and CR which made me think that I was doing well. In Verbal, SC is my strongest area. I worked really hard on RC and CR before the exam because these two were my weakest areas.
Just to give you a brief idea, below were my practice scores before giving the real exam.
MGMAT CAT 1: 640-660 (Q:46-48, V:36-37)
MGMAT CAT 2: 670-690 (Q:46-48, V:40-46)
MGMAT CAT 3: 640-660 (Q:44-45, V:36-37)
GMATPrep 1: 680 (Q:44, V:34)
GMATPrep 2: 700 (Q:49, V:35)
Real GMAT: 600 (Q:43, V:28)
As you can see above, I never went below 640 in practice tests, so not sure what happened on the real GMAT.
I have exhausted
the Official Guide and Kaplan 800 problems. If any one of you can please provide your insights or valuable suggestions, I would highly appreciate that.
Too bad I found out about this forum just a week or two before the real exam. If I had known before, I am sure I would have scored better.
Rhyme - do you have any consolation Bronze award for me ?
