Hello all

ISB is an amazing business school and has great placement report. But I was wondering what are the job opportunities like outside India after doing ISB PGP ? Is it considered equivalent to an MBA outside India ?

Any insight would be great.

Thanks :-D

bb has some excellent insights there.

Some more points to add:
- International placements at ISB will generally be a pale shadow of domestic placements, and this is not just the case with just ISB, but with most Indian schools. The ISB MBA would not be considered equivalent to a top MBA from a local school (e.g. INSEAD, Oxford, Stanford, Ivey in their respective regions).
- That said, around 20-30 global roles are offered at ISB every year (in an 800+ strong class). These may vary from international location offers made by Indian MNCs, to global office placement done by consulting firms, and will of course be company and region specific. The number and type of roles offered will vary every year but in general the number remains around the same.
- The ISB brand will also attract more recognition in Singapore and in the Middle East than in Europe or the US. For this reason, alumni networks in these regions will also be stronger.

Hope this helps. Feel free to come back with more queries as needed.

Thanks for your reply. How does the AACSB Accrediation helps? I asked this question because you said that the ISB MBA would not be considered equivalent to other MBAs from local school.
Also I want to do an MBA that is connected to Asian market but is also globally flexible. What do you suggest in this case?

Thanks

Does ISB release any kind of an employment report?
In general, I would say you want to go to a school in the country you want to work at. The only exceptions may be HBS, LBS, HKUST, INSEAD, and a few others that attract a wide range of employers. My guess is that ISB won't help with getting a job in Argentina or Canada and neither will UCLA Anderson be a stepping stone to a job in Germany for example.

The reasons are 1) Work permit hassle 2) Language proficiency and 3) Why would a company in Germany or Canada go through a hassle of seeking someone in ISB to recruit?
So in other words, ISB is for India and Ross is for US and Rotman is for Canada, and on and on.....

That is a very clear and concise answer bb. It surely has some important information.

Thanks

Not equivalent in the context mentioned here means that it would not attract the same opportunities in other geographies that top local schools in that geography would. In terms of the qualification itself, it would be considered equivalent.

Thanks for your reply. Also one quick question: How does the international exchange programs that ISB offers help apart from exposure and learning?
Do they play any role during placements?

Thanks.

There is no official role that the exchange programs are supposed to play in placements. However, some students do try to go abroad towards the last terms of the program, and try and seek opportunities there through personal networking and some resources of the partner schools. Keep in mind though that this is very challenging, as the partner schools are focused on their students first, and may not feel an obligation at all to help an exchange student seek placements in a foreign country.
