Hi @Akhilesh, Sorry for not writing this till now. i was upset about my GMAT score and was looking out for inspiration and study methods
Well coming back to Study Prep Plan for my first ATTEMPT to bell GMAT was as below.
JOined Manhattan Review by April 11 month end and had booked the Exam date as 30th July 2011
Materials used
Manhattan Review material and OG 12
GMAT MAC PREP test and Manhattan Review Catcodes.
i had worked all OG problems once and reworked them again which i had got wrong earlier...
I also took the Manhattan CATCODES and GMAT PREP CATCODES...
The details are updated here....
https://harsha-isb-dream.blogspot.com I took my GMAT-1 on 30th July. As i was going thorough the exam, i felt that most of the questions were difficult for me and i had a problem with keeping up with the time...though i missed 1 questions in the end in both Quant and Verbal, i realised that TIME management is a big issue for me.... though i was not expecting a huge score, but to see a score of 530 was heartbreaking...
i came home, informed my mom n wife abt my dismal score..i felt i was drowned...i was thinking..what a loser i am....some GMAT CLUB members study 30 days and score 750s, but even after working on this for 2.5monmths, i could not get 600s.......went to a movie, had a vodka with my best buddy.....had to vent out my frustration u know....
the next day, i thought deeply about my failure and realised the below were my mistakes
1. Concentrating only on OG12 (I know, if I am an expert on basics, this itself is sufficient)
2. Had not heard about
MGMAT 8 guides. This was a mistake of not knowing about them. Though i have soft copies now, i am thinking about buying paperback for the sake of the 8 CAT CODES that comes along with the material.( not sure if that is really required, but i would like to check with Masters here in CLUB about it).
3. MR GMAT CODES 1 test was 650, but the later ones got me 530, exactly the same as with GMAT-1. so that brought one more flaw of mine to front - to concentrate on the tests i take and to work on more difficult problems than i had worked during the preparation of first GMAT attempt.
4. Verbal score I got in GMAT-1 was killing me. A Score of 24, which would never take me to reach my goal of score about 700. I realised how little I know about the verbal concepts. I decided to start from the scratch. I am now going through Wren & Martin and Collin COBUILD English Grammer book.
5. Quant score of 39 is neither great. I decided to start from the scratch on this too. Brushing up my basics from the
MGMAT NUmber theory as of now.
A major realization was that both Quant and Verbal are my weakness and that there is no shortcut to improve the scores unless I am get strong with the basics.
I have restarted my preparation once again and I would book GMAT only when I am comfortable with the scores. It does not mean that I will take eternity to get comfortable with it. Dead line is Feb 2012. But I would be prepared for Dec 11 atleast. I have 4 more months and my preparation is on my way. I am working on them and updating my progress in my blog -
https://harsha-isb-dream.blogspot.com I would not stop until i am done with my goal....my goal to study in one of the IIMs
