DS look for one of two things:
1) Y/N answer
2) A number or defined solution

You should start with that regardless of the type of DS problem. If it's (1) then you usually don't need to arrive at the solution. Maybe if you share a specific example it would be easier to say

[/quote]

Here is an example:

"Every attendee at a monster truck rally paid the same admission fee. How many people attended the rally?"

1. If the admission fee had been raised to $20 and twice as many people had attended, the total admission fees collected would have been three times greater

2. If the admission fee had been raised to $30 and two-thirds as many people had attended, the total admission fees collected would have been 150% of the actual admission fees collected

Hi steve.yang24,

Data Sufficiency is a question type that is unique to the GMAT, so most Test Takers need time to learn the proper Tactics and 'get used to' the logic of these questions.

Certain DS questions will require that you do a certain amount of math, but many of those same questions are based on patterns. Your ability to spot those patterns will save you some time and help you to avoid doing too much math. You might also have to train more with Tactical approaches so that you can avoid an 'all math, all the time' approach to DS (and the Quant section overall).

1) How long have you been studying?
2) What materials have you been using (and what specifically for DS?)?
3) What is your goal score?
4) When are you planning to take the GMAT?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

Hi Rich,

1) Been studying for about a month
2) Using exclusively MGMAT
3) Hoping for 730+
4) Planning to take it late April

Hi steve.yang24,

Many Test Takers spend 3 months (or more) on their studies before they hit their 'peak' scores, so it's likely that you just haven't put in enough time and effort yet to master all of the questions types.

1) Have you taken any CATs yet? How have you scored (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich
