Re: The table gives information on the total number of admissions and the [#permalink]
FALSE FALSE TRUE

1. The circuit stop with the highest rank based on total admissions = New York
The circuit stop with the lowest rank based on revenue earned = Chicago
FALSE

2. City stops which experienced % decrease in revenue = Phoenix, Portland, Washington.
only 3 out of 17, which is ~ 17.5%
FALSE

3. Santa Fe, admission % change = 8.4%
Santa Fe total admissions in 2015 = 2282
Santa Fe admissions in 2014 x 1.084(percentile increase) = 2282
=> Santa Fe admissions in 2014 = 2105.16
TRUE

Re: The table gives information on the total number of admissions and the [#permalink]
Part 1: The circuit stop with the highest rank based on total admissions is also the circuit stop with the lowest rank based on revenue earned.

The circuit stop with the highest rank based on total admissions is New York.
The circuit stop with the lowest rank based on revenue earned is not mentioned in the table.
(The least revenue rank is 20. As mentioned in the description there are 21 stops and data in the table is only for 17 stops, data for 4 stops is missing.)

However, NOT knowing the stop with the least rank based on revenue earned is not a problem to solve the question because we know from the table that revenue rank for New York is 11.

Hence answer for Part 1 is FALSE.

Part 2: Approximately 24% of the circuit stops in the table experienced a percentage decrease in revenue earned from 2014 to 2015

Sorting the table using the column Revenue: % Change, we see that there are only 3 stops, out of the 17 mentioned in the table, have a % decrease in revenue earned from 2014 to 2015. These stops are
Phoenix, Portland and Washington.

We need to calculate (3/17)*100 and check if its approximately 24%.
(3/17)*100 = 17.65% (Rounded to nearest hundredth).

Hence answer for Part 2 is FALSE.

Part 3: The total number of admissions in Santa Fe, NM, in 2014 was approximately 2,105.

Looking at Santa Fe, NM data
Admissions Number (2015) = 2282
Admissions % Change = 8.4%
Admission Number (2014) = x

x*(1+(8.4/100))=2282

Solving the above equation we get x = 2015.17 (Rounded to nearest hundredth).

Hence the answer for Part 3 is TRUE.

Re: The table gives information on the total number of admissions and the [#permalink]
1.The circuit stop with the highest rank based on total admissions is also the circuit stop with the lowest rank based on revenue earned.
Ans: The circuit stop with the highest rank based on total admissions is Highest Rank- New york,
The circuit stop with the lowest rank based on revenue earned- Chicago
So, False

2.Approximately 24% of the circuit stops in the table experienced a percentage decrease in revenue earned from 2014 to 2015
Ans: The circuit stops in the table experienced a percentage decrease in revenue earned from 2014 to 2015- 3
Total-17, (3/17)*100 = 17.64. So, False

3.The total number of admissions in Santa Fe, NM, in 2014 was approximately 2,105.
2,105 + 8% of 2105 (percentage increase) = 2282, Match. So, True

Re: The table gives information on the total number of admissions and the [#permalink]
A. The circuit stop with the highest rank based on total admissions is also the circuit stop with the lowest rank based on revenue earned.

circuit stop with the highest rank based on total admissions == New York

circuit stop with the lowest rank based on revenue earned == (NOT Provided); however, it is a city other than New York

FALSE is the correct answer

B. Approximately 24% of the circuit stops in the table experienced a percentage decrease in revenue earned from 2014 to 2015.

3 out of 17 circuit stops in the table experienced a percentage decrease in revenue

hence, % = 300/17 % = 17.6% (approx)

FALSE is the correct answer

C. The total number of admissions in Santa Fe, NM, in 2014 was approximately 2,105.

8.4% increase in admissions observed in 2015; hence,

admissions in Santa Fe, NM, in 2014 = (2282 * 100) / 108.4 = 2105.166 = 2105 (approx)

TRUE is the correct answer

FALSE, FALSE, TRUE is the correct answer sequence

Re: The table gives information on the total number of admissions and the [#permalink]
Q1) The circuit stop with the highest rank based on total admissions is also the circuit stop with the lowest rank based on revenue earned.
False.
The circuit stop with the highest rank based on total admissions is New York (Rank 1), and it is not the circuit stop with the lowest rank based on revenue earned (Rank 11). The circuit stop with the lowest rank based on revenue earned is Chicago (Rank 20).

Q2) Approximately 24% of the circuit stops in the table experienced a percentage decrease in revenue earned from 2014 to 2015.
False.

To find the percentage of circuit stops that experienced a decrease in revenue, calculate it using the following formula:

{Percentage of stops with decreased revenue} = {Number of stops with negative revenue}\{Total number of stops}* 100

In this case, there are 3 circuit stops with negative revenue out of 17 total stops.
=>approx 17.65%

So, approximately 17.65% of the circuit stops experienced a percentage decrease in revenue earned from 2014 to 2015.

Q3) The total number of admissions in Santa Fe, NM, in 2014 was approximately 2,105.
True

To find the original value, use the following formula:

original_value = new_value / (1 + percentage_increase/100)
In this case, the new value is 2282 and the percentage increase is 8.4%, so the original value is:
original_value = 2282 / (1 + 8.4/100)
original_value = 2105.1660516605166

Therefore, the original value is 2105.17.

Official Explanation

The circuit stop with the highest rank based on total admissions is also the circuit stop with the lowest rank based on revenue earned.

The circuit stop with the highest rank based on total admissions is New York. The circuit stop with the lowest rank based on revenue earned is Chicago.

Answer: False

Approximately 24% of the circuit stops in the table experienced a percentage decrease in revenue earned from 2014 to 2015

There are 3 circuit stops in the table that experienced a percentage decrease in revenue earned from 2014 to 2015. This represents about 18% of the total 17 stops.

Answer: False

The total number of admissions in Santa Fe, NM, in 2014 was approximately 2,105.

The total number of admissions in Santa Fe, NM, in 2015 was 2282. This was an 8.4% increase over the 2014 admissions. Set up an equation with x as the 2014 admissions: \(2282 = x+ 0.084x.\) Santa Fe had \(\frac{2282}{1.084}\), or about 2105, admissions in 2014.

Answer: True

Additional Statement: The circuit stop experiencing the lowest percentage increase in total revenue earned from 2014 to 2015 made more revenue in 2015 than any other stop on the circuit.

Denver, CO, experienced the lowest percentage increase in total revenue earned from 2014 to 2015, while Dallas, TX, earned the most revenue in 2015.
