Part 1: Suppose that Indigo Cleaning serviced exactly 50 buildings in the past 3 years with two customer complaints, one each from two different buildings. The percentage of serviced buildings about which Indigo Cleaning received customer complaints would be closest to __________.

Number of buildings serviced about which Indigo Cleaning received customer complaints = 2
Total Number of buildings serviced = 50

% of serviced buildings about which Indigo Cleaning received customer complaints = (2/50)*100 = 4%

Hence, looking at the options the approximate % will be 5%

Part 2: Suppose that the project manager hires Ambrosia Cleaning instead of Indigo Cleaning. The amount spent on cleaning services provided by Ambrosia will be higher than the amount that would have been charged by Indigo by approximately what percent?

Translating this would give us.

22000 = x% of 20000
Solving of x would give us 110%.

Therefore, Ambrosia Cleaning is 110% of Indigo Cleaning.
In other words Ambrosia Cleaning's cost is 10% higher than Indigo Cleaning's cost.

Hence, approximate % will be 11%.

1. serviced buildings = 50
Buildings for which complaint is received =2
% for which complaints are received= 2/50*100= 4% ~5%

2. The amount spent on cleaning services provided by Ambrosia =25000
Amount that would have been charged by Indigo = 22000
% increase= (25000-22000)/22000*100= 3000/22000*100= 3/22*100 ~ 3/21*100= 1/7*100=14.3%~ 14%

Q1) B. The percentage of serviced buildings about which Indigo Cleaning received customer complaints can be calculated as follows:

Number of customer complaints = 2
Total number of buildings serviced = 50

Percentage of buildings with complaints = (Number of complaints/Total number of buildings) * 100
= (2/50) * 100
= 4%
≈ 5%

So, the percentage of serviced buildings about which Indigo Cleaning received customer complaints would be closest to 4% i.e. 5% (answer)

Q2) B. The amount spent on cleaning services provided by Ambrosia Cleaning would be $25,000. The amount that would have been charged by Indigo Cleaning for servicing 50 buildings is $22,000. To find the percentage difference:

Percentage difference = (Difference in amounts/Amount charged by Indigo) * 100
= (25,000 - 22,000)/(22,000) * 100
= (3,000/22,000) * 100
= 13.64
≈ 14%

So, the amount spent on cleaning services provided by Ambrosia Cleaning will be higher than the amount that would have been charged by Indigo by approximately 13.64% i.e. 14% (answer)

Official Explanation

1. Suppose that Indigo Cleaning serviced exactly 50 buildings in the past 3 years with two customer complaints, one each from two different buildings. The percentage of serviced buildings about which Indigo Cleaning received customer complaints would be closest to

Explanation

The correct answer is 5. To determine the percentage of complaints received per buildings cleaned, divide the number of complaints by the number of buildings serviced: \(\frac{2}{50}= 0.04\). Complaints were received on 4% of the buildings serviced, which is closest to 5%.

Correct answer: B

2. Suppose that the project manager hires Ambrosia Cleaning instead of Indigo Cleaning. The amount spent on cleaning services provided by Ambrosia will be higher than the amount that would have been charged by Indigo by approximately what percent?

Explanation

The correct answer is 14%. Ambrosia Cleaning charges $25,000. This is $3,000 more than the fee for Indigo Cleaning. To determine the percent increase of Ambrosia's fee over that of Indigo, divide the additional fee by Indigo's original bid: \(\frac{3,000}{22,000}=0.1363\). Ambrosia's fee exceeds Indigo's fee by approximately .

Correct answer: B

Email 3: Determine how many buildings has Indigo serviced over the past 3 years
If >50 => 2 complaints are not a problem

1. Suppose that Indigo Cleaning serviced exactly 50 buildings in the past 3 years with two customer complaints, one each from two different buildings. The percentage of serviced buildings about which Indigo Cleaning received customer complaints would be closest to __________.

\(\frac{2}{50} = \frac{4}{100} \approx{5%}\)

2. Suppose that the project manager hires Ambrosia Cleaning instead of Indigo Cleaning. The amount spent on cleaning services provided by Ambrosia will be higher than the amount that would have been charged by Indigo by approximately what percent?
