Re: In 1 week, a local truck stop services a total of T truck drivers. The [#permalink]
Column 1: Identify the expression that reflects the revenue earned by the truck stop on shower and truck wash services during the week.

Revenue earned by the truck stop is the sum of customers who opted to use shower, wash and Wash-n-Shower combo multiplied by their respective rates.

Revenue = (S * 3) + (12 * W) + (14 * C)

Column 2: Identify the expression that reflects the percentage of customers purchasing the Wash-n-Shower combo package.

Number of people who purchased Wash-n-Shower combo = C
Total number of customers = T

Therefore, % of customers purchasing Wash-n-Shower combo package = (C/T)*100

Hence, the answer is C/T

Re: In 1 week, a local truck stop services a total of T truck drivers. The [#permalink]
In 1 week, a local truck stop services a total of T truck drivers. These drivers can choose from a variety of services. A total of S drivers opt to use the truck stop's shower facilities for $3.00 a shower, W drivers put their trucks through the truck wash for $12.00 per wash, and C drivers purchase the combine-and-save Wash-n-Shower combo for $14.00.

In the table, identify the expression that reflects the revenue earned by the truck stop on shower and truck wash services during the week. Then identify the expression that reflects the percentage of customers purchasing the Wash-n-Shower combo package. Make only two selections, one in each column.

A. Total earnings

S drivers @ $3.00 per shower = 3S
W drivers @ $12.00 per wash = 12W
C drivers @ $14.00 per Wash-n-Shower combo = 14C

hence, Total earnings = 3S+12W+14C

B. Percentage purchasing combo package

Total Drivers = S + W + C = T
Drivers purchasing combo package = C

hence, Percentage purchasing combo package = C / T

(ideally 100 * C/T %)

Total

Official Explanation

The correct answers are \(3S+12W+14C\) for the revenue earned by the truck stop during the week and \(\frac{C}{T}\) for the percentage of drivers purchasing a combo package.

The total earnings is the sum of revenues earned from all showers, truck washes, and combo packages. To determine the revenue for each service, multiply the cost of the
service by the number of drivers purchasing it. Add together showers (3S) plus truck washes (12W) plus combo packages (14C). The expression is 3S+12W+14C.

The question states that T represents the total drivers served, and C represents those purchasing the combo package. To determine the percentage purchasing combos,
divide the number purchasing combos by the total drivers served: C/T.
