I have a query regarding the MBA School Fairs and Tours that are arranged in different cities periodically.

What exactly is the benefit for an applicant to go out and participate in these events? Is there any added advantage that an applicant can see (apart from, for example, mentioning in the 'Why X College' part of the essay that you did attend their event)

What is the crux of this event and is there something specific that can be gained from these?

Can you also please mention any such events to look forward to in India?

Good question!
So, you want the schools to see that you are committed to them. This means joining their silly webinars, meetings, etc.
Doing something in person has a few benefits over the online events:

  1. You get to meet them in person which is more memorable (they will have a record of it)
  2. You often can get more face time and access to AdCom if you do it in person since it may not be busy
  3. You get to show off yourself much more than you would online.
Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware that actual AdCom members attend it. I was under the impression that they would be guest speakers at best and leave all the heavy lifting to the campus ambassadors...
