Good day everyone. In the process of studying, it's always a good idea to do continuous research on programs and schools. While I'm only looking at the online programs right now, I do wish we still have career offices like back in UG, but my school was a major forensics/criminal justice school and most of their career counselors were focused on police/forensic jobs.

I'm currently looking at SUU's programs for MACC and I'm pleased to see that this school doesn't just have a single MACC but there are many concentrations included too.

I have a few questions for the fellow students here who might have a better clue than I or even people already in the field.

How important or rather what is data analytics? Like, I know the basics, you....analysis data. But is it more of a comp sci or coding sort of field? I'm looking at one of the concentrations in SUU and one of them is a business analytics program which includes data analytics 1 and 2. Programming is mentioned in there and so is SQL. How important is SQL in the accounting world? I do know I have a love of data in a very general view. I just finished a 8-9 month temp job at a software company where SQL terms were dropped here and there. I do notice tons of job openings that mention that SQL is a plus (preferred or even required) for that position. SQL isn't something I was ever taught of in school.

I know that it's always a good idea to pick up a random extra skill to boost your resume. My cousin has been landing more interviews now after her certificate in a course than before.

TLDR and Summary
I know this thread is all over the place, but to summarize: What is SQL (because I've been seeing it more and more often on job opening), how important is it in accounting (as in is it up and coming and more and more people are learning it), and how hard is it?

Many thanks in advance for your help!
