Too many open questions come to my mind based on your post here. Most of my queries may be uncomfortable. Here are a few: why consulting? what do you understand about consulting? why strategy consulting? how does your past connect with your identified future? why would a consulting firm hire you? what examples can you offer to demonstrate the three core skills of a consultant? why did you opt for a waiver when the world of applicants out there takes an exam and provides a crucial data point for their candidacy?..... Give some of these a thought. - Dee MBA admissions consultant and management consultant | E: | https://www.linkedin.com/company/success-catalysts/
Hi Malik Priyanka here from ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, your background in public health and energy, paired with a goal to pivot into consulting with a focus on healthcare and social impact, gives you a compelling and mission-driven narrative.
Aim for a strong GRE score to demonstrate academic readiness and boost your chances at your target schools. Your post-MBA goal makes a lot of sense given your experience in public health, but it’ll be important to clearly connect the dots: what kind of consulting (strategy, healthcare-focused, NGO, etc.) are you aiming for, and why now?
Also, some quick questions that would help refine your profile evaluation: What kind of leadership or project ownership have you had in your public health work? Have you had any international exposure or cross-functional work with governments, NGOs, or large institutions? And do you have any ECs or volunteer involvement outside of work?
ARINGO is currently offering free school shortlisting support to 5 lucky applicants. Might be worth applying for personalized guidance as you finalize your MBA strategy! CLICK HERE TO APPLY FOR FREE SCHOOL SHORTLISTING.
I’d be happy to offer you a free profile review for top MBA programs to see where you stand and how to boost your chances— happy to help! No pressure, no strings—just helpful insights on where you stand and how you can strengthen your chances.
Your background in public health projects and interest in consulting roles within healthcare/social impact is a solid, timely fit.
With a 3.3 GPA, you’ll need a GRE score in the 320+ range to remain competitive for your target schools LIKE Fuqua, Goizueta, Kenan-Flagler, Johnson, and Questrom. Clarify your why-MBA story: how the program bridges the gap from your current public-sector work to commercial strategy roles at consulting firms focused on health and social impact.
Once your score is in, lean into consulting-fit essays and target mid-tier programs where your background is differentiated.
"My background is in public health projects, and I’m using the MBA to shift into consulting roles that focus on healthcare and social impact."
that's a nice narrative for career goals as it shows relevance with your past experience. However, the devil will lie in the details. To make a convincing argument, you must address why consulting is the right vehicle for you to make social impact. While seeing essays this year, I am finding that many applicants don't address this bit, leaving scope to make their goals essay more convincing.
Secondly, I would wait for your GMAT score before deciding on the b-school lost. At the moment, I feel you have listed down too many schools with less commonality between them, which makes me wonder about your selection criteria. I would lean in on b-schools that will give you the academic and professional exposure you need to work in healthcare consulting. Duke and UNC become obvious choices, even Kelley is alright, but lets work out the other program choices once you have a GMAT score. Accordingly, you may want to swap a few lower ranked MBA programs for some top 15-20 programs.
All the best for the GMAT and feel free to reach out for further queries.

Hi Namita, Since my scores are in, Ive slightly adjusted my school list, the common thing among these programs would be the scholarship offers, Im trying to target Unis where I can get maximum scholarships. Second common thing is their Healthcare consulting outcomes, Duke, Vanderbilt and Emory are among the top picks.
Hi Malik, Congratulations on your admission and scholarship from Vanderbilt. I have a question please; was your scholarship stated in figures or was it indicated as a full tuition? If yes; what was your total scholarship amount? I got a scholarship of $149k, but no narration as full tuition. Thank you.

Hey @boybread5, Seems you have already applied to the MBA programs listed above.
With your standout GMAT score, top tier college, and a top ranking percentile GPA. much of the results would depend on how compelling your overall story came out to be, and whether you were able to leverage your Extra Curriculars to show demonstrated examples of leadership, and such other traits that AdComs of super selective programs like to see in their candidates.

While your tenured experience of 15 years may seem like an outlier to the typical class profile of the 2Y FTMBA programs, I sense that some of them may get interested in you because of your career in AI. A pivot into finance may not hold ground unless you have been already associated with that domain in some shape or form. Tech leadership path is a no-brainer. Some schools may push you towards their 1Y FTMBA program, which may not be a bad option at all, provided you aren't dependent on internships. Do remain open to Stanford's MSx and MIT's Sloan Fellows. Your target test date is too late for catching R1. Your target score should be 705+ to get into the consideration set of schools, even though that is no guarantee because many may have reservations against your 15 years of WE. - Dee MBA admissions consultant and management consultant
Hi Priyanka here from ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, with 15 years of deep experience in the technology sector, I see a rare blend of technical expertise and innovation. Your current role as a Generative AI Architect positions you at the cutting edge of tech, and your previous experience as a founder adds entrepreneurial depth that adcoms at top schools highly value.
With 15 years of experience, you will need to strongly articulate why now—especially for schools like Harvard, Wharton, and Booth. Your reasoning around career plateau and desire to pivot into finance or broader tech leadership is a good start, but it will be important to clearly show how a second MBA will unlock these goals in a way your current background cannot. Adcoms will want to see not just what you want to learn, but why this environment, at this point. Your ECs look impressive and differentiate you significantly—especially representing the country at the 100 km World Championship.
Have you given a thought on how you’ll position your second MBA to adcoms, especially given the career shift you’re targeting? Also, shift your target score up by about 10-20 points.
Thank you for sharing your profile @TechSocial! Your profile brings a wealth of technical experience, leadership, and maturity. With 15 years of work experience, including roles like Generative AI Architect, Data Science Lead, and Development Manager, you’ve built a powerful foundation in cutting-edge technology. Your early entrepreneurial journey running a tech startup focused on education platforms showcases an innovation mindset, which top business schools value highly. These experiences not only demonstrate depth but also a trajectory of increasing responsibility and vision.
Your extracurricular achievements are remarkable and set you apart. Representing India in the 100 km World Championship signals discipline, resilience, and mental strength, traits that business schools deeply respect. Furthermore, your civic engagement as a founding member of a social impact group in Bengaluru, coupled with a verified social media presence, reflects good community leadership and influence beyond the workplace. This holistic involvement adds color and richness to your MBA candidacy. You might want to take a look at Extracurricular Activities for MBA.
That said, the path to a second MBA will require careful articulation. Admissions committees will need a clear and compelling rationale: What gaps remain from your first integrated MBA? Why is now the right time for a global MBA? And how will this new degree support your pivot into broader tech leadership or finance roles? Addressing these questions with specificity will be critical. Schools will expect you to demonstrate what your first MBA didn’t offer, perhaps international exposure, access to a global network, or more strategic and financial acumen. You might want to take a look at the blog on Is Pursuing a Second MBA Worth It?
Another area to strengthen is your test score. While your target of 695+ is respectable, if possible, aim for 20+ points higher; it would significantly enhance your competitiveness. Additionally, age and experience can be a double-edged sword: while they show depth and readiness for leadership, they may place you outside the typical age bracket for full-time MBAs (usually 5-8 years of experience). Thus, the key is selecting the right programs designed for seasoned professionals.
In terms of program fit, you are best aligned with senior-track MBA or executive formats. Programs like the MIT Sloan Fellows, Stanford MSx, LBS Sloan Master's in Leadership & Strategy, and INSEAD 1-year MBA (if the second MBA rationale is airtight) can be good options. Additionally, explore IMD Switzerland and Oxford’s Executive MBA, which value professional maturity and strategic ambition. For hybrid or U.S.-based options, you might also consider Kellogg, Wharton, or Booth EMBA programs, especially if you're open to modular or weekend formats.
Refine your second MBA narrative, and start exploring recommender options who can credibly speak to your leadership and future potential. Also, reflect deeply on your post-MBA goals, whether you see yourself leading a product vertical, managing a global tech division, or even entering the investment side of tech (VC, corp dev, etc.).
You now need to craft your story strategically, framing your second MBA as a natural next step in your professional evolution. With a strong score, thoughtful school selection, and a personalized narrative, you have every chance to thrive at a globally renowned program. If you'd like, let's chat. Feel free to book a profile evaluation session.
Your's is one of the most accomplished senior tech profiles I’ve seen
That said, a second MBA from a global top-10 needs a bulletproof rationale. Schools like Sloan Fellows, Wharton EMBA, or LBS Senior Exec programs may offer a better fit and ROI versus traditional two-year MBAs.
Also, a 695 GMAT won’t cut it, you’ll need 730+ even to be considered at HSW, given your age and second MBA ask.
Let’s refine your school strategy and narrative before app deadlines hit.

Undergraduate - Computer Science from a Tier 1 college in India (NIT), with a GPA of 7/10. I have a significant amount of leadership experience, having represented the college in sports at various events. I've also captained several games and initiated a small gaming community that evolved into a supportive community.
Professional experience - I began my career as a Software Engineer for four years. Exposure to the Product and Project management space during the pandemic prompted me to quit my job and transition into a Product Manager role, without an MBA, at a leading health tech startup in India. After a year in the Product Management space, I resigned to support my family for a few months before joining my friend in his entrepreneurial journey. Leadership outside of job - I volunteered at the UN to develop an ERP solution (software) aimed at enhancing attendance systems in Africa. Additionally, as a member of Toastmasters, I worked on improving my communication skills and motivated my colleagues and friends to do the same.
Currently, I am contributing to the development of an F & B startup, serving as a co-founder.
Long-term goals - I aspire to launch an innovative health and wellness business in India, focusing on gamifying the overall experience.
Short-term goals - My immediate goal is to work in an advanced Healthcare sector, such as the US, within the Product space.
Passion - My interests lie in gaming, technology, and healthcare.
Background - My father works in the pharmaceutical industry, and my sister recently graduated in Medicine. Their influence has steered me towards a career in Healthcare.
PS — I'm currently preparing for my third attempt on the GMAT next week.
Hi captain0612, thanks for sharing interesting details about yourself.
You already know that GMAT is a weak area and it's great to see you are already working towards improving that.
Your profile is a well-rounded blend of entrepreneurial, startup, and corporate experiences. The transition from a software role to a product-focused position at a health tech company shows your ability to step out of your comfort zone, a trait highly valued by top tier B-schools. I would have liked more clarity on the duration of your role as a co-founder. When detailing your entrepreneurial journey in applications, emphasize not only the challenges but also the professional growth and accomplishments within this venture. As a general guideline, top B-schools compare experience with start-ups or entrepreneurial ventures with the success or growth they have achieved during the time applicants have worked there. So in your applications, make sure you also highlight your professional development in your entrepreneurial venture along with the challenges you may have faced.
Something I would wonder about is if your plans are to start up your business in India, the US MBA does not seem like a great investment. Hope you provided more context around the kind of experience you hope to gain in specific "product roles" within the healthcare space and how they help you move closer to your long-term goals.
Regarding my entrepreneurial experience, it's very recent—just a few months—so I didn't focus on this aspect as much. Instead, I emphasized my journey, struggles, and challenges in the Product space. Regarding the geography, I felt working in a much advance industry and system would provide me with insights and a first hand experience that I can leverage and bring-back with me.
Currently I am working on my GMAT, realising that it might drag my chances down. However, I am unsure whether the admissions committee would view this since it would be almost three weeks post-application submission when I resubmit my GMAT score.
Hi! Great profile. Really awesome experience and good that you have a strong brand from the past and the startup looks good on top of it. The biggest weakness is your score unfortunately. I am not sure if you can get a waiver at any of these programs as the score is below average for these schools and way below the Asia Tech applicant average.
Healthcare and healthcare consulting have been up and down in the US. Fuqua and UNC used to be the big drivers but even they tend to have single digits in hiring, meaning 10 or so of your classmates went there, so the network is fairly small. Many healthcare companies also do not sponsor which will make your fight a bit more tricky for both admissions and recruiting. Some Stats here: https://gmatclub.com/forum/best-mba-pro ... 21312.html
Fingers crossed! Let me know if any questions. Good luck! -BB
Thanks, BB for the stats and the feedback. I got the same vibe from current students as well. I have considered this while shortlisting and contemplating the programs. I am optimistic, though, and hoping for the best!
Currently, I am working on my GMAT, realising that it might drag my chances down. However, I am unsure whether the admissions committee would view this since it would be almost three weeks post-application submission when I resubmit my GMAT score.
I hope you are doing good. Your profile is strong, with six years of diverse tech experience, leadership roles in sports and community building during undergrad, and a transition from Software Engineer to Product Manager. Your entrepreneurial spirit as a co-founder in an F & B startup and volunteering at the UN showcase initiative and a global perspective.
While your long-term goal of launching a health and wellness business in India is clear, consider refining your short-term goals. Aim for a higher GMAT score in your third attempt, and tailor your application essays to highlight unique experiences and how they align with each school's culture.
Strengthen international exposure mentions, and choose recommenders who can emphasize your leadership and potential in an MBA program. Overall, your profile is compelling, and with strategic application efforts, you should be well-placed for consideration at your target schools.
Hi @captain0612, I align with @BB's assessment. That said, I am surprised IESE was a denial. Happy to help you with a ding analysis, and help you understand if you want to reapply next year, to comparable (or even higher ranked programs). My experience tells me the culprit has often been a less than flattering highlight of one's work accomplishments, and Extra Curriculars that could show you with demonstrated examples of leadership (Ad Coms love it). Additionally, IESE is extremely strong on Community, and that may have been another area that your application may not have projected strongly.

I am planning to apply for Master in Management (MiM) programs for the 2027 intake and would appreciate feedback on my profile and areas where I should improve. Nationality: Indian 🇮🇳 Education: BMS (Bachelor of Management Studies) at R. A. Target Schools: • HEC Paris • ESSEC Business School • ESCP Business School • INSEAD • Imperial College Business School GMAT Plan: Preparing for the GMAT Focus Edition with a target score of 695–715. Questions Based on my current profile, what GMAT score should I realistically target for these schools? What additional internships or extracurricular activities would strengthen my profile for top MiM programs? Are my target schools realistic, or should I consider adding/removing any schools? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
A GMAT above 675 would be competitive for the schools you’ve mentioned, and your academics look strong as well.
You could also consider adding University of St. Gallen, IESE Business School, and IE Business School to your list. One key aspect will be clearly articulating your post-MiM career goals, as that plays an important role in the admissions process.
If possible, try to pursue additional internships that align with your post-MiM goals, so that your profile shows a clear and consistent narrative.
Feel free to reach out if you’d like to discuss your profile in more detail.
Thanks for sharing your profile, @DEV AGARWAL. You are academically outstanding and well-positioned for top MiM programs. However, your profile currently seems to have three gaps: Limited internship depth, limited international exposure, and moderate leadership scale. These are fixable before applications.
Your realistic GMAT FE target should be ~675. But if you get a ~695, that would be really great. All the best for your GMAT exam.
Strengths: 1. Exceptional academics- A 10.0 CGPA from a known commerce college stands out. Admissions will view you as academically disciplined and intellectually strong.
2. Early leadership exposure- Event head roles demonstrate: organization, initiative, and responsibility. MiM programs like candidates who contribute to campus life.
3. Finance curiosity- Stock simulations + audit internship support a finance or consulting interest.
Areas to improve: 1. Internship quality- Top MiM admits usually have 2–3 high-quality internships. Ideal additions can be a consulting internship, a finance internship (investment research/corporate finance), or a startup strategy role. Aim for one brand-name company if possible.
2. International exposure- European schools value a global mindset. Examples: exchange programs, international competitions, collaboration with global teams, and global online projects.
3. Impact-based leadership- Move beyond event participation. Ex: start a finance or consulting club, lead a student initiative, and organize national competitions. Admissions want initiative, not just involvement.
You can also add other schools like LBS, IE, ESADE, or EDHEC.
Questions for you: 1) Are you open to internships abroad during your MiM? 2) Are you leaning more toward consulting or finance? 3) Do you plan to participate in case competitions? 4) Have you held any positions where you managed a team?
These answers affect how your essays should be written.
We’d love to learn more about your academic background, extracurricular activities, work experience, and personal journey so that we can provide a tailored profile evaluation and an honest school assessment. Feel free to book an evaluation session.
Hi @Dev Agarwal, 1. Assuming you can manage a GMAT FE of 695+, you would be able to offset the big dampener of your College being less than a Tier-1 college 2. Would you like to clarify what percentile your CGPA of 10.0 ranks you in? 3. While you shave listed the organisations you have worked with, the real strength of your resume would come from your work accomplishments, not merely in a list of your employers. It would be important for us to see that to understand your chances better 4. Also, much of the results would depend on how compelling your overall story comes out to be, 5. whether you can leverage your Extra Curriculars to show demonstrated examples of leadership, and such other traits that AdComs of super selective programs like to see in their candidates.
Broadly, I feel Essec and ESCP would be quite doable (not easy, but certainly doable). For the others in the list, your application quality would make a huge difference.

Work Experience: Been working as an Analyst for almost 2 years at one of the world's largest banks; worked on a risk reporting project where I had to collaborate with stakeholders from 40+ countries. Although I've only ever travelled abroad for leisure, I did gain second-hand/ virtual international exposure through this project. Extra curriculars: Been an active member in several extracurricular clubs and competitions in college (mainly in Digital arts, but also was a part of the literary club and dramatics club). Was the governor of the literary club in college and also the head of several design clubs. Also co-authored a paper for a national conference (did not present it, though). Received an institute award for contribution to socio-cultural activities of the college.
CSR: Have been actively contributing to several CSR activities of the present firm.
Aspirations: Want to switch careers into consulting or Product management. Looking for a full-time MBA program in INSEAD / HEC/ NUS/ NTU/ SMU, preferably with a scholarship. Also open to other top colleges in the EU.
Hi @Theeldertwin. You are an early-career MBA candidate with good academic credibility and leadership potential, but your main challenge is experience depth. Your profile works best for European programs that accept younger candidates, but it will be slightly early for schools with 5+ year averages.
Your strengths: 1. Strong academics- Tier-1 college, 8.55 CGPA, and balanced academic history. Adcoms will not worry about your academic readiness.
2. Global exposure through work- Working with stakeholders across 40+ countries is very valuable for global MBA programs. This is a good talking point for schools emphasizing international diversity.
3. Leadership in extracurriculars- Your roles in clubs and cultural activities show leadership, creativity, and community involvement. Schools like INSEAD and HEC appreciate candidates who contribute to campus life.
Potential concerns: 1. You will be younger than the average cohort at your target B-schools. This can work if you demonstrate fast career progression and leadership impact.
2. Career goal clarity- Your goals currently include consulting/product management, which can appear unfocused. Pick one primary goal and show a logical path. Example: Risk analytics > strategic problem solving > consulting or Data exposure > customer insights > product management.
If possible, consider gaining another year of experience before applying. Applying with 4 years instead of 3 years significantly improves chances, especially for INSEAD.
Schools that may fit well: IESE, ESSEC, or NTU.
How to strengthen your application: 1) Quantify impact at work - How did your risk project improve decision-making or efficiency? 2) Demonstrate leadership - Did you mentor junior analysts? Lead project initiatives? 3) Develop product or strategy exposure - Take ownership of a cross-functional initiative.
Questions that could improve your profile: 1) Have you been promoted or given additional responsibility at work? 2) Did your risk reporting project influence senior management decisions? 3) Are you involved in any data analytics or technology work?
Your biggest lever for improvement is gaining additional work experience and sharpening your career story.
We’d love to learn more about your academic background, extracurricular activities, work experience, and personal journey so that we can provide a tailored profile evaluation and an honest school assessment. Feel free to book an evaluation session.
Hi @Theeldertwin, If your CGPA brings you a top percentile, your non-engineering degree and a Tier-1 College could be huge pluses for your profile. Given your work profile, working with blue Chip Banks, and Extra Curriculars which do show quite a hint of demonstrable leadership abilities, I would be quite bullish on the strength of your application. INSEAD however, may not be a great choice for you, esp for your post-MBA career pivoting plans. Although your 655 GMAT hides the breakdown, I would believe there are several top MBA programs, both US & non-US which would help you get to your planned career better.
You would need to bring our complelling stories through your application, and ensure all other pillars of your application showcase you in a flattering light to bring out demonstrated examples of leadership, and such other traits that AdComs of super selective programs like to see in their candidates.

Hey @assumendadolorum, Academically, you have shown excellent calliber. Your GMAT score is decent as well, esp for ISB. We have little to no information on how top tier your college has been, what percentile your GPA ranks you in. Also, much of the results would depend on how compelling your overall story came out to be, what your Extra Curriculars are, and whether you have been able to leverage them to show demonstrated examples of leadership, and such other traits that AdComs of super selective programs like to see in their candidates.

Hey, I got a similar profile to yours, not an IITian but from NIT Karnataka (7.5), CFA L1, B4 Consulting, 665. Wanted to know if you accepted McDonough/McCombs or left it and trying for Duke, Stern and Cornell?
As a Chartered Accountant and Finance Transformation Consultant, I’ve built my career across India, Australia, and now the UK, where I’m currently based in London. I started my journey auditing SEC-listed companies in India, gaining a deep understanding of regulatory compliance and financial reporting. Transitioning into consulting, I worked with clients in the financial services sector, primarily helping them build robust operating models to meet evolving global reporting requirements. Now, in London, I specialize in the insurance and London market, navigating complex financial landscapes and driving strategic change. An MBA is my next step - to bridge finance and strategy, sharpen my leadership capabilities, and transition into Private Equity Consulting, where I can deliver transformative financial solutions on a global scale.
With 5 years of experience in consulting and a strong background as a Chartered Accountant, your profile looks great, especially with international exposure in Australia, and the UK. Transitioning from finance transformation to Private Equity Consulting post-MBA aligns well with your career trajectory. To strengthen your candidacy, focus on demonstrating leadership potential, impact on clients, and your ability to contribute to the classroom experience. A strong GMAT score will be essential to further enhance your competitiveness for top schools, as will a clear articulation of how an MBA will specifically help you achieve your post-MBA goals. We would like to know more about your profile like work exp., achievements, challenges faced, impact created, extracurriculars and more, discussing these details, will help us identify if you can pull out good stories from your experience.
Hey @blossomblue, Will need more details of your profile for an informed assessment. The Univs understand your academic callibre with both your GPA & your GRE/GMAT score. Admissions to super selective programs like Booth will pose additional challenges beyond just your career growth. They would also need details of how you have persevered despite your challenges/ contexts to show demonstrated examples of leadership, and such other traits that AdComs of super selective programs like to see in their candidates. We also have no information on how top tier your UG college has been, what percentile your GPA ranks you in, though a CA will be looked at favourably. Also, much of the results would depend on how compelling your overall story came out to be, what your Extra Curriculars are
