As a Chartered Accountant and Finance Transformation Consultant, I’ve built my career across India, Australia, and now the UK, where I’m currently based in London. I started my journey auditing SEC-listed companies in India, gaining a deep understanding of regulatory compliance and financial reporting. Transitioning into consulting, I worked with clients in the financial services sector, primarily helping them build robust operating models to meet evolving global reporting requirements. Now, in London, I specialize in the insurance and London market, navigating complex financial landscapes and driving strategic change. An MBA is my next step - to bridge finance and strategy, sharpen my leadership capabilities, and transition into Private Equity Consulting, where I can deliver transformative financial solutions on a global scale.

We would like to know more about your profile like work exp., achievements, challenges faced, impact created, extracurriculars and more, discussing these details, will help us identify if you can pull out good stories from your experience.

If you’d like, we are happy to hop on a 1:1 call with you to discuss your profile in detail. Please feel free to schedule a profile evaluation call according to your convenience.

Hey @blossomblue,
Will need more details of your profile for an informed assessment.
The Univs understand your academic callibre with both your GPA & your GRE/GMAT score. Admissions to super selective programs like Booth will pose additional challenges beyond just your career growth. They would also need details of how you have persevered despite your challenges/ contexts to show demonstrated examples of leadership, and such other traits that AdComs of super selective programs like to see in their candidates.
We also have no information on how top tier your UG college has been, what percentile your GPA ranks you in, though a CA will be looked at favourably.
Also, much of the results would depend on how compelling your overall story came out to be, what your Extra Curriculars are

Do feel free to reach out for a more detailed, 1-to-1 profile assessment

Congratulations, since you have already interviewed at ISB. Wishing you all the very best for your results ahead.

With your 695 GMAT score, and your roles, including a role with Tata Motors, you could also look at real possibilities of admissions to super selective programs. Your Career Goal also looks well planned.
1. We have no information on how top tier your UG college has been, what percentile your GPA ranks you in.
2. Also, much of the results to applications to super-selective programs would depend on how compelling your overall story comes out to be, what your Extra Curriculars are, and whether you have been able to leverage them to show demonstrated examples of leadership, and such other traits that AdComs of super selective programs like to see in their candidates.

McKinsey Business Analyst for 3 years, working on multiple projects such as credit, collections, business strategy, commercial excellence, risk, wholsale banking. In those projects, my workstreams achieved USD +10 Million incremental net income (sum of all). While working on this engagements I had the chance to connect directly with CxOs, who were the main stakeholders of my workstreams.

Hey @MBAaplicant2025,
Seems you have already applied to the MBA programs listed above.
Frankly speaking, your GMAT scores are on the lower side, and admissions to these super selective programs may pose challenges. We also have no information on how top tier your UG college has been, what percentile your GPA ranks you in. Also, much of the results would depend on how compelling your overall story came out to be, what your Extra Curriculars are, and whether you have been able to leverage them to show demonstrated examples of leadership, and such other traits that AdComs of super selective programs like to see in their candidates.

While your WE at McKinsey will prove to be a positive, staying at the Analyst position for 3 years may be a red flag. It is important therefore to project your resume to show accomplishments that show your initiatives beyond your scope of responsibilities.

Your profile is very strong both academically and professionally, and you already have many elements that top MBA programs tend to value. A few thoughts that might help refine your overall strategy:

1. Academics & Test Score
A 715 GMAT Focus along with a 9.16 GPA puts you in a very competitive range for most top programs. From an academic standpoint, you are well positioned.

2. Professional Experience
Working as an ML Engineer at a bulge bracket investment bank is a strong platform. The achievements you mentioned—particularly the 45% revenue impact and the innovation awards—are impressive and should stand out if presented clearly in your applications.

When structuring your story, try to highlight:
• Business impact (revenue growth, efficiency gains, cost savings)
• Leadership and initiative (projects you led or drove)
• Stakeholder management (working with business teams or senior leadership)

MBA programs value candidates who can connect technology with business outcomes, so emphasizing that angle will help.

3. Career Goals (Important Area to Refine)
Your transition from ML/technology into Investment Banking will need to be explained thoughtfully.

Admissions committees will likely look for clarity on:
• Why move from a strong technical role into IB?
• Why is an MBA the right bridge for this transition?
• How does your technical background position you well for technology or fintech coverage groups?

Ideally, your narrative should connect the dots clearly:
technology exposure → financial services experience → growing interest in M&A/strategy → MBA as the bridge to IB.

4. Leadership & Extracurriculars
Your Youth Parliament experience is interesting and adds a different dimension to your profile. If possible, continuing to build leadership outside of work—through mentoring, volunteering, or leading initiatives—can further strengthen this area.

5. School Strategy
The list you are considering looks good, but it would also be sensible to add a few moderate or safer programs to balance the overall strategy.

6. Timing
Having around 5 years of experience at the time of matriculation falls well within the typical range for top MBA programs.

Overall, the biggest factor that will likely influence outcomes is how clearly your story connects your technical background with your post-MBA goals in investment banking.

If you are able to present a clear and cohesive narrative while highlighting the business impact of your work, you should be competitive for several strong MBA programs.

Feel free to reach out if you’d like to discuss your profile in more detail.

All the Best!

Hi
Priyanka here from ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, your profile looks strong on the surface. A 715 FE and 9.16 GPA are excellent academic signals, and your experience with measurable impact will stand out. The innovation awards and internal recognition also show strong performance early in your career.

For your target schools, the key question will be why the shift from tech/ML to IB, since many candidates already come from finance backgrounds. Your story around using deep tech expertise to advise fintech and technology companies in IB could work well if articulated clearly. Leadership elements like Youth Parliament and cross-stakeholder collaboration will also help your profile stand out.

If you'd like, feel free to connect for a quick discussion, happy to share thoughts on positioning and school strategy for these programs.

Hi
Priyanka here from ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, your profile looks strong on the surface, especially with your Big 4 tech consulting experience and exposure to GenAI transformation work. Your GMAT FE and GPA are both competitive for ISB.

With around 3 years of experience, you are also within the typical ISB experience range. The key for your application will be clearly explaining why you want to move from tech consulting to management/strategy consulting and highlighting leadership and client impact in your projects. Strong essays and recommendations will also play a big role in the final outcome.

If you'd like, feel free to connect for a quick discussion, happy to share more thoughts on strengthening your ISB application.

Hi
Priyanka here from ARINGO. Your profile looks solid on the surface, especially because of the strong finance-focused internships. Having three M&A internships in the upper mid-market is a strong signal and aligns well with the type of candidates schools like LBS and HEC typically admit.

Your GPA from Frankfurt is also a strong academic indicator, and the exchange semesters at ESADE and PolyU add good international exposure. Your leadership as a class representative and involvement in finance/charity initiatives also helps show engagement beyond academics.

LBS MFA: Competitive but possible, especially with your M&A internship track record.
HEC MSc International Finance: Competitive, but still within reach with strong essays and recommendations.

If you'd like, feel free to connect with me for a detailed discussion. I’d be happy to help you evaluate your chances and refine your application strategy.

No pressure, no strings - just helpful insights on where you stand and how you can strengthen your chances.

Hi Rajveer
Priyanka here from ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, you have a strong academic and technical background for MSc Finance programs. A 715 FE is already competitive and puts you in a good position for your target schools.

Your finance-focused certifications show strong technical interest in finance. However, AdComs usually see these as supporting signals rather than major differentiators, so they won’t replace strong full-time finance experience. Your Market R&D Analyst role and work on systematic trading strategies and portfolio optimization is the most relevant experience in the profile. The entrepreneurial Amazon business also adds a good dimension of initiative and commercial thinking.

HEC Paris MIF: Competitive but possible with a 715+ GMAT and strong essays.
ESSEC MIF: Solid chance if the finance narrative is clear.
Imperial MSc Finance: Realistic target with your stats.
MIT Sloan MFin: Very competitive, usually admits candidates with exceptional academics, quant background, or top finance internships.

If you'd like, feel free to connect with me for a detailed discussion. I’d be happy to help you refine your school strategy and positioning for these programs.

No pressure, no strings - just helpful insights on where you stand and how you can strengthen your chances.

Hello,

As the title suggest I'm wondering about my chances about getting accepted to Master in Finance programs here in Europe for September 2026 intake without GMAT FE. For some reason I'm complete failing at my mock exams even tho I've done comprehensive study program with mock 2 on monday giving 555 and now mock 3 today 535. Honestly it completely shocked me considering I've been doing the entire TTP-cource and always score between 75-85% correct on their medium/hard questions and when I do GMAT OG book it's more or less the same. Probably I'm sabotaging myself during the mock exams, which is why I'm now starting to consider my options without GMAT FE. My profile is as followed:

Education: Bachelor in Marketing and Sales from Denmark. Not high-ranked university

GPA: 3,4/4

Experience: Two Internships and one entrepreneurial venture

First Intership: Omnicom Group / Copenhagen

- 5 month internship in Paid Marketing consultant in Omnicom Group in Copenhagen Office.
- Analysed campaign performance metrics and ROI to optimize ad spend.
- Produced performance reports used in strategic decision-making.
- Worked with companies such as Suzuki and Chanel.

Second Internship: Kinda RED / Berlin

- 9 month internship as a Finance and Expansion analyst intern in Berlin.
- Built break-even and payback models for retail locations to evaluate financial viability of new store openings.
- Translated operational and sales data into financial insight used for capital allocation decisions.
- Developed scenario analysys for rent, staffing and inventory cost structures to access profitability under different expansion assumotions.
- Prepared investment memorando and financial data packs to support management decision-making.

Entrepreneurial venture: Noer Invest / Copenhagen

- This probably doesn't account for much, since no investments have been made yet, but still included it.
- Founded a real-estate investment company focusing on acquiring and improving residential properties in underserved areas of Denmark
- Built financial models to evaluate acquisition opportunities, including cash-flow projections and ROI.
- Conducted property valuation and sensivity analyses to access profitibality under different financing and market assumptions.
- Held discussions with banks regarding potential financing structures.
- Developed an ESG-orientated investment thesis, allocating a certain % of profits to support local community development.

Letter of Recommendations: One from Management Accounting Professor and one from Kinda Red CEO

Honestly this section I think might be an advantage to me as I really developed close relationsship with both these people and basically know what they have written in their references.

Management Accounting Professor:
- As far as I understand from my professor he basically says I'm one of the top-students he ever had, highlights my bachelor project specifically mentioning different aspects of it, says how well prepared and active I always were for classes, mentions my real-estate company and how I translated theoretic knowledge into practical knowledge and clearly states that he sees me fit for a career in Investment Banking, which is my goal.

Kinda RED CEO:
-In this reference I know that he validate everything I have written under my experience for that internship. Furthermore I know he says I'm the best intern he ever had and also giving his experience with me could see me succeed in an Investment Banking role.

So that is more or less my CV and it's really annoying that GMAT is not going as planned as I myself thought that with a good GMAT I would be strong candidate for multiple of the following programs I want to apply to, so I want to hear how my chances realistically are without GMAT and if I should apply now without GMAT and then state I will take it later to give more time to prep.

Programs I want to apply to:
Edhec- International Finance
ESSEC- Master In Finance
ESCP- Master in Finance (Probably for sure can forget about this one)
ESADE- Master in Finance
IE- Master in Finance
Skema- Master in Financial markets and investments
NOVA SBE- Master in International Finance
Vlerick- Master in Financial management

Hi
Priyanka here from ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, your profile looks solid for European MiF programs, especially in terms of practical exposure. The combination of marketing + finance exposure + entrepreneurial venture gives you a somewhat differentiated story.

Your internships are strong for a MiF applicant. The real estate venture is also a nice addition. Even if deals haven’t closed yet, the fact that you built financial models, spoke with banks, and developed an investment thesis shows initiative and real interest in investing. Your recommendations also sound like a strong part of the application, especially if the professor and CEO are strongly advocating for your analytical ability and finance potential.

Some European MiF programs are more flexible on GMAT compared to US schools, especially if the rest of the profile is strong. Your mock scores may also simply be test anxiety during full-length exams, which is very common.

If you'd like, feel free to connect with me for a more detailed discussion. I’d be happy to help you evaluate your chances across these schools and suggest a strategy for applying with or without the GMAT.

No pressure, no strings - just helpful insights on where you stand and how you can strengthen your chances.

It would be helpful to have a few more details to evaluate your profile properly. Could you share your post-MiM career goals, GRE/GMAT score, and any other relevant aspects of your profile? That additional context would make it easier to provide more meaningful feedback.

Feel free to reach out in case you have any further questions.

Hi
Priyanka here from ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, first of all, congrats on putting together a unique profile. Engineering work in infrastructure/bridge projects in Meghalaya is quite interesting and not something AdComs see every day.

Your GPA is solid, and for MiM programs, strong academics matter a lot. Any update on your test score? The NCC leadership and rock climbing certifications also add a nice leadership and extracurricular angle, which schools appreciate.

One thing to note is that R4 is quite competitive, since many seats are already filled by then. Also, with about 1–1.5 years of experience, your application will rely heavily on academics, leadership, and clarity of career goals.

I’d be happy to offer you a free profile review for your target programs to see where you stand and how to boost your chances, happy to help!

Excellent GRE score. Could you share a bit more about the rest of your profile—such as your total work experience, the companies you’ve worked at, your roles and responsibilities, any leadership experience, and your post-MBA career goals? That additional context would help in evaluating your profile more accurately.

Feel free to reach out in case you have any further questions.

Good scores and brand names - give you a strong defense. Being an Indian male applying in R3 makes your odds tougher. Why MBA?" "Why consulting?" and similar questions will be critical for getting your narratives right. LBS may be quite challenging; Imperial may be doable. The 'big red flag' for me is your post-MBA goal. You should do your due diligence to assess if your goals are plausible or not.

Starting with your profile strengths @fishnchips, Tier-1 tech employers (Microsoft + Google), strong GRE, good academics, and visible thought leadership (research + open source).

Your profile aligns with the tech-to-consulting pivot that many consulting firms are currently recruiting for (digital transformation, AI, cloud strategy).

Round 3 is slightly harder because many seats are already filled.

Main risk: Lack of visible leadership. Your profile currently reads as strong technically but less managerial. Top MBA programs look for influence, team leadership, and project ownership. If your role includes mentoring or leading initiatives, highlight it strongly.

If you apply in Round 3, submit a very polished application. Emphasize leadership examples and highlight global exposure. If possible, applying earlier rounds generally increases admission chances, but Round 3 can still work with a strong profile.

You can also explore other schools like INSEAD, HEC Paris, and IESE.

All the best!

Hello, I am currently looking to apply for an MBA. I am a former division 1 baseball player and played 2 years of professional baseball in Japan. Right now I am transitioning to my family business, where I plan to succeed it in the future. I want to build a great network and foundation on management and finance.

Perhaps it would be worth completing your transition to a family business and gaining another two years of work experience. Getting into PE post-MBA generally requires one to come from that industry PE - give this a thought too.

Thanks for sharing your profile, @Kaito Hara. Your profile is non-traditional but appealing. MBA programs value elite athletes and leadership backgrounds, especially when paired with a clear family-business transition plan.

Your biggest advantage is a compelling life story, but your biggest risk is limited traditional business work experience.

Your strengths:
1. Elite athletic background- Division 1 + professional sports signals discipline, leadership, resilience, and coachability. Business schools like former athletes because they contribute strongly to classroom culture.

2. International experience- Playing professionally in Japan demonstrates adaptability, cultural awareness, and maturity.

Concerns:
1. Work experience (main risk)- You will likely have ~3 years total experience at matriculation, which is on the lower side.

This is acceptable if: leadership examples are strong and the family business role is clearly defined.

2. Finance/Quant preparation- Since your goal involves finance and ownership, admissions may ask, do you have analytical preparation? Your GPA is fine, but any finance exposure helps.

Round 3 is more competitive, so execution matters.

Your narrative can be: Athlete → leadership mindset → international exposure → business ownership.

Avoid saying you just want a “network.” Better framing can be: I want to build financial and strategic capabilities to scale my family business and modernize its operations. Schools like owners, operators, and builders.

You can also explore other schools such as SMU Cox and Vanderbilt Owen.

How to strengthen your profile: Gain early responsibility in the family business, operations, finance, and strategy. Take a finance or accounting course.

Focus on programs with strong alumni in Texas if the family business is regional.

Questions for you to reflect upon:
1) What industry is your family business in?
2) How many employees or what revenue scale?
3) What role will you hold before MBA matriculation?
4) Do you have a GMAT/GRE score planned?
5) Did you hold leadership roles on your baseball team?

We’d love to learn more about your academic background, extracurricular activities, work experience, and personal journey so that we can provide a tailored profile evaluation and an honest school assessment. Feel free to book an evaluation session.

Cheers!

Professional experience - Chartered Accountant + BComm (First Class) + CFA Level 1 cleared. Working in a boutique front-end investment banking firm for the past ~3 years in a sector agnostic role. A listed entity deal closure on resume along with other deals still in progress where I have led the client management and deal execution. Worked in valuations previously at a CA firm which focused on startups and managed the entire department for a span of ~6 months. Other non-core finance roles before that

Achievements - received Employee of the Quarter award 3 times, promotion

Goals - continue in investment banking in elite boutiques to gain the relevant global experience and deal exposure to return to India to eventually start a fund that invests in startups or established businesses in a specific sub-industry in India on account of gaps observed with a personal emotional+motivational story tied to those goals.

Good GRE score and quals. CFA L1 is not a needle mover. Will be important for you to showcase why you need an MBA when your goals could be a natural outcome of your current career trajectory. A lot will depend on your narratives, as plenty of Indian CAs apply.

Thanks for sharing your profile, @ADCIndia. Let's start with what works in your favor: Front-end investment banking experience, CA + CFA L1 + B.Com (First Class) > good finance signal, deal leadership (client management + execution, not just modeling), listed deal closure > credibility, 333 GRE > competitive for M7/T15 and clear long-term vision (fund formation tied to real industry gaps).

Primary risks: Overrepresentation risk (Indian male + finance), 8 years of experience (upper edge for US 2Y MBAs). Schools will scrutinize why MBA now, not later/EMBA. You are competitive, but execution and positioning will decide whether you land Wharton/Booth/Kellogg vs. T15-only outcomes.

What Adcoms will like: Boutique IB gives more responsibility earlier than bulge brackets, client-facing ownership + execution leadership, sector-agnostic exposure shows versatility, prior valuation experience + department ownership shows early leadership and promotions + awards = validation.

Adcoms don’t care about the number of deals; they care about the decisions you made under pressure, the trade-offs you managed with clients, how you influenced outcomes without authority, and where you failed or had to recalibrate. You should prepare 2–3 flagship stories, a deal that almost fell apart, a tough client/stakeholder situation, and a leadership moment without a title.

Post-MBA goal: Well-formed but needs precision. Your goal is directional, but needs tight sequencing and credible framing. Short term, return to front-end IB at elite global boutiques/focused coverage groups to build cross-border deal exposure. Medium term, transition into investing (growth equity/PE/structured capital) in a specific sector. Long term, launch a sector-focused fund in India addressing a clear, observed gap.

Schools want realism, not ambition alone.

About the schools:
Booth- Finance-heavy, analytical culture, respects non-linear IB paths, and is less obsessed with pedigree than Wharton.

Kellogg- Leadership + teamwork angle helps offset finance crowding, IB outcomes are fine.

Columbia- IB recruiting, your experience fits well. Essays must differentiate you from PE-track candidates.

Wharton is a stretch, but real. Finance-saturated pool. Your GRE helps, but differentiation is key. Clear leadership + long-term India investing angle helps.

Tuck- Values maturity, leadership, and client-facing experience. IB placement is strong for experienced candidates

Yale- Likes governance, impact, long-term mission narratives. Less finance-cloned than Wharton/Booth.

Darden/Fuqua/Johnson- All realistic, good IB pipelines, cultural fit matters (Darden case method, Fuqua team focus).

Stern- IB access, more forgiving on experience band.

You can also explore other schools like INSEAD, LBS, HEC Paris, and IESE.

How to Differentiate: You must answer, “Why you, and not the other 200 Indian bankers with strong scores?”

Questions you should reflect on:
1) What specific gap in Indian capital markets frustrates you?
2) What deal changed how you think about risk or value creation?
3) When did you realize technical excellence wasn’t enough?
4) What kind of leader do clients trust you to be?

We’d love to learn more about your academic background, extracurricular activities, work experience, and personal journey so that we can provide a tailored profile evaluation and an honest school assessment. Feel free to book an evaluation session.

Cheers!

Hi Shantanu,
The 8 years work experience is post bachelors but also includes 2 years of the mandatory internship (Articleship) in the CA course. Unsure how that work experience is categorized by the AdComm.
Regarding extracurriculars, volunteered at beach cleanups to understand how plastic waste is recycled + joined a teaching institute as a visiting faculty to teach investment banking + a short stint of around 6 months of being a member of Toastmasters. Additionally mentored colleagues and juniors in current and prior roles.
Not diving into other points as too descriptive. Would love to know your assessment based on these additional data points if possible.

Strong academics and an excellent GMAT Focus score. The key aspect will be clearly connecting your transition from a defense background to SBI and then to your post-MBA career goals. It would be helpful if you could elaborate on what roles or industries you are targeting after the MBA.

Your target schools (A/B/C/L/I) form a solid list. Out of curiosity, have you considered applying to ISB as well?

Feel free to reach out in case you have any further questions.

Hi
Priyanka here from ARINGO. Sorry to hear about the denials, especially after getting the interview. I know it can be disappointing. Speaking about your profile, your profile is solid overall — Big 4 consulting experience and a strong academic background from a Tier 1 school. The denials likely means the profile was competitive but didn’t stand out enough in impact, leadership, or differentiation compared to similar candidates. Good Luck with the remaining schools.

I’d be happy to offer you a free discussion for your target programs. Happy to help!

A score above 655 will be good, and anything higher will make you more competitive. Your undergrad and post grad GPA are solid and will complement the GMAT score. On the work front, it will be important to show your leadership experiences, quantifiable impact on your projects and the need for an MBA at this point in your career. Overall, your profile is strong, but it needs to be backed by a very strong application execution that brings your distinctive strengths to light.

There are many candidates from banking background in these programs. What are your post MBA goals?

Candidates from a banking background are fairly common in these programs, so that by itself shouldn’t be a concern. What would be important to clarify is your post-MBA career goals.

Overall, your profile looks impressive, but it will still need to be supported by a well-crafted application and clear narrative. From a testing standpoint, aiming for around 655 on the GMAT Focus Edition would put you in a good position for most of these programs.

Feel free to reach out in case you have any further questions.

All the best!

Yes, GMAT scores are valid for up to 5 years from the test date, so if you send your score now, it will be available for your 2026 application cycle as well. You can use the same score in subsequent years if you re-apply or if you decide to apply to multiple rounds fnf
