Wow. This is very interesting industry and career track. I think you will be a popular applicant. I mean admissions teams will want to interview you and have you as part of their class.

Having a clear path and a clear goal is a huge advantage in business school. So many people know what they don’t want to do but very few of them know exactly what they want to do. As long as you know hiring patterns and have ability to net work, it should demonstrate to the admissions that you won’t have issues recruiting.

PS. As you probably know, sports and entertainment are extremely relationship based and likely require recruiting off campus. It would be helpful to demonstrate in your applications and helpful to have a good network of people you’re in touch with such as LinkedIn or associations and things like that.

That's great! Getting in touch with students now is SUPER helpful across the board! it will help with your essays and the overall application, it will also help demonstrate to the AdCom that you are proactive and engaged with their community and real (also helps with application) and finally, when all those students graduate they will be your network, helping you find internship or job opportunities.

I am not saying you should bug 10 students and waste their time but building meaningful connections, asking SMART questions will result into a great experience and help quite a bit with recruiting.

Hey Atul071994,

You have a very interesting profile as we don't often come across applicants from the Sport & Entertainment industry, which is a sad fact. That being said, being a part of the underrepresented industry is going to be a strong positive since you will bring an Indian context to the classroom and your potential employer. Most will be value your insights since the market is very superficially penetrated by the large Sports and Fitness brands and they are hungry to grab a larger pie.
In terms of your application, your education in Brussels and your engagements with some of the largest EU brands will be a positive. Try to focus on nailing the GMAT as that will be crucial being a part of the competitive Indian application pool. Lastly, try to put some research into your career goals as you have the advantage of being in a niche industry where your skillsets will be extremely valuable so a plain vanilla consulting role may not be the best way forward. Think of the lager brands like Decathlon, Nike, Puma along with some sports behemoths like Manchester United etc from a recruitment point of view. This will do more justice to your experience, your long term aspiration and will add immense value to your school as well. LBS will be another solid option as a lot of Sports and Entertainment players are based in London.

Just wanted to add as an added aspect of my profile that may help -

1) I have been working as an online councellor as well as holding some leadership positions with a mental health firm for about 6 years.
2) I was a National Athlete in swimming and state level athlete in Table tennis and badminton.
3) I am certified sports psychologist which helps my journey with the mental health organisations.

I want to utilise these skills and add to the INSEAD community as a classmate and alumni. Have addressed these points in my essays as well.

Sorry about the ISB. My guess they may have wanted a higher gmat score. Perhaps they thought this was a last minute opportunistic app and maybe you were not serious enough 🤷‍♂️

I think bumping up your score a bit should help and hopefully be doable.

Hi, Does IIM accept members with less experience? usually it will consider at least 4 years, but in your case you have only half a year experience is that possible?
