Hi. You have a pretty amazing profile and a very unique one. Having those tech company brands in your résumé will make every admissions director salivate. Having a masters after your 3.1 GPA is also awesome. Quick question, you did not have to take the GRE for your masters or the 312 is the score you applied with?

I’m checking the decision tracker to see if we have people with this kind of a GRE score and they’re not, most are dated a few years back Jerry was largely ignored. I don’t know how detrimental this 312 will be for your chances but it’s definitely going to help and I don’t know if you can do anything about it besides requesting a score waiver application.

What I feel you can change in the meantime however, would be your goals. I’m not sure if you have already scoped out a spot within Travel industry and perhaps a company such as Expedia or maybe you have Delta in your mind but trouble industry is very unfriendly towards MBAs. It does not pay well and it doesn’t hire well either. I’m not sure if you need HB but they also don’t offer that either. Applying with Travel industry even as a PM, you want to be very well-positioned. You want to show that there’s a job waiting for you when you graduate and you’re gonna be scrambling or groping Because admissions know there’s not much available within that industry. Don’t get me wrong, you can apply with any goal you want and it doesn’t have to be the real one, you can pursue your dreams but you will reduce your chances of admissions if you are applying with a very Unlikely to succeed goal .

Thank you for your prompt response. I apologize for any confusion. To clarify, my immediate objective is to secure a position within the product management team, specifically at American Express. I will take your advice and make my goals clear and logical.

I didn't take the GRE, and most of the schools I'm applying to don't offer a test waiver maybe MIT? but my chances are low there.

Got it. AmEx is a large company with many products, so a financial services company with a travel arm. I like them and I think most people have a positive view of them. The travel side of things is archaic but it works for now, so you can definitely add value. At the same time, hopefully you have more than just Amex as an option (Plan B) in case Amex has a bad year. Schools often ask for it in the applications (which I find funny) or in interviews which throws people off... but it is a good question.

Could you provide recommendations for strengthening my profile before Round 1 in 2024? Additionally, I'm curious about my chances at HBS, Wharton, and CBS. Thank you so much!

HBS chances are a crapshoot, I think I would have a better prediction of bitcoin price than HBS 😇

What score would you be applying with next year?

The best way to strengthen your profile is to be a rising star at work and if you cannot be a rising star at work then be a rising star in a startup or in an nonprofit or somewhere else demonstrating that nothing can contain you. You want to demonstrate that you get stuff done faster and better and more than anyone else and you don’t need external motivation. It sounds like you have these skills and traits already. Promotions and pain increases are also helpful but these things take time.

PS. I was replying on the phone so I couldn’t see the years and rounds you were picking.
