After a total of 5 years in aerospace and defense industry, I look forward to pursue MBA in top tired B-schools. My focus is more towards 1 year MBA program. Post MBA, I would like to drive my career towards tech or consulting and grow in the firm to reach senior leadership posts.
As I have worked in tenure based role in a govt sector industry. Hence I didn't get any opportunity for International Exposure, and the promotions, etc were restricted and not performance based. However, I have taken up many initiatives, published 2 papers and presented in International Conferences. Mentored and led a team of 5, who are juniors but joined in the same post as me.
In my engineering, I was a Capitan of 20 member team, for the TIFAN event organized by SAEIndia, to build a prototype of Self Propelled Onion Harvester.
Apart from experience, I have completed the IIT Kanpur certification for Blockchain and participate in the Web 3.0 contests. I have also initiated some programming projects in the industry I have worked.
In the short term I look to work in US, Europe or Middle East and gain experience. In the long term I look to settle in the India.
I would say that forte the latest trends have been to hire people with some existing experience, even if it’s an internship. So getting some tech relevant background or at least pivoting your background and experience experience towards tech would be helpful in recruiting and applications period if you don’t have any tech experience or such, you will need an internship ideally.
Consulting can be easier for recruiting as long as you have good client facing skills. That means a good communicator, a good personality and engaging.
I probably don’t need to tell you about the gym score but you probably should bump it up to at least the average which tends to be around 710 for Jim classic and 655 for Focus. Ideally you could get a bit higher. With 100 points below average, it’s gonna be really really a tough climb
Kindly excuse, I have a GMAT score of 665, Had made a typo while updating here. Thankyou for the feedback, I will be trying for the tech internships as suggested.
PS. I’m surprised about the NUS ding. Any idea what’s that about? Why they were not happy with your candidacy?
While your selected colleges are inline with the goal that you seek, the GMAT Score would be an hinderance to get into HEC, INSEAD and top tier colleges. I would definitely urge you to retake the GMAT again and have an equivalent of 700+ in GMAT Classic for targeting top tieeer Universities.
With respect to other factors, it would be important to understand the following in detail :
1. Previous Experience - What was your role, your seniority and if you have demonstrated any leadership
2. International Experience - Have you been involved in working in an International Ecosystem? Or have you travelled internationally .. this is to gauge your adaptability in the international culture.
3. Future Goals - They would need a clear idea as to what your aim is when you plan to do the MBA, what is the path you desire and how you plan to build a bridge from your previous experience to this!
Saying so, the story of your life that your present to the Adcoms would be the one that makes the difference! Make sure to draft your applications to correctly present your experiences up until now!
I would be happy to have a detailed chat regarding drafting applications, shortlisting of Universities or even Mock interviews! Feel free to reach out!
