Hi. This is a great profile. Not sure if your 2.9 GPA is a real US sub-3.0 GPA or that's a converstion. If that's a real US-based 2.9, that's a tough one. Anything below 3.3 is considered on the low side in BSchool. However, international GPA's should not be converted and presented as they are.

If you are an international, and esp from China/India, highly recommend getting 20-30 poitns above average to be competitive. That will mean closer to 685 and above in GMAT Focus. For other geographies the competition is less severe but unfortunately the competitive demographics requires higher scores. This is esp true if you have a low-ish GPA which hopefully you do not 😇

Hi bb, thank you for your input! Unfortunately this is a US GPA, I went to University of Texas at Austin for my undergrad as a Computer Science major. My GPA is my biggest concern and I am looking for ways to offset this in my application. Do you have any tips on what I can do to strengthen my application for these schools?

Got it. if this is a US GPA, there is really only one proven way to address it and that is a high test score coupled with a reasonable and brief explanation in your optional essay that is super brief and says something along the lines of my undergraduate GPA does not reflect my true capability and potential. Unfortunately a very stressful and period in my life that demanded a lot of my attention Towards my family did not allow me to fully focus on my studies. I hope that my recent GMAT focus score of 695 would address any concerns about my academic performance.

Basically something boring like that with a real reason why you struggled in college. But the only reliable way out of the GPA is a high score. Many people have done it.

PS. Oh, and if you work as a developer, you may be disappointed with the MBA salaries 😂
