After 10 years of working in the Indian Air Force, and a short stint with a corporate, I now want to career pivot into the world of consulting/finance. My goals post MBA include working with Big 4 consultancy firms/VC firms. I am region agnostic. My dream college is INSEAD, however the only international exposure I have is having international stakeholders while working in corporate and as a tourist. Also I have strong extra-curricular, part of the Indian Air Force Women's Rafting Team, organising College fests and events, won a lot of debate and public speaking competitions in school, college and while in the IAF, editor of the school magazine, etc. Being a veteran as well as a military spouse, I have been exposed to challenging and dynamic environments.

Hey, @Aaa12345

With your unique 10-year career in the Indian Air Force, you possess a good profile for MBA applications. This experience showcases leadership, discipline, teamwork, and the ability to thrive under pressure—all highly sought-after qualities in consulting and finance. Your exceptional quantitative skills, demonstrated by your high GMAT score, further strengthen your candidacy.

Your low GPA might raise an eyebrow at top programs, but a strong GMAT score can help lighten that concern. Your international exposure could be broadened, though highlighting interaction with international stakeholders during your corporate stint is a good start.

Highlight Air Force experience in essays & recommendations. Quantify achievements showcasing leadership and problem-solving honed in service. Connect these skills to consulting/finance goals. Consider adding schools with veteran programs alongside INSEAD.

Remember to emphasize the soft skills honed through extracurricular activities, like communication and teamwork. While mentioning your veteran and spouse status is optional, focus primarily on showcasing the transferable skills you've gained. Thorough research of each program's strengths and how your profile aligns is important.

Hey @Aaa12345
I am Priyanka, Client Manager at ARINGO. I hope you are doing well, speaking about your profile, a 715 FE is a strong score and combined with a decade of military and corporate experience, your profile stands a strong chance of acceptance at top programs.

Your leadership roles in the rafting team and organizing college events highlight exceptional teamwork and organizational skills. Moreover, your debate and public speaking skills combined with editorial work, showcase strong communication abilities. While your GPA is on the lower end, it can be compensated with your GMAT score and work experience. Your target schools, including INSEAD and other top programs, are ambitious yet attainable. You will need to highlight your international experience effectively in your application. Insead greatly values international experience.
