I have 9 years of work experience, working in tech startups, a digital publisher, and a media agency. I decided to focus on startups, particularly in Customer Success as I think this is where I was most successful. I was able to lead a team of customer success managers and hit our monthly targets of churn rates and upsells. In my current role, since it is a pre-seed startup, part of my role is to also implement new processes, particularly in customer support and implementstion, in addition to product enablement and minimizing churn.

I also created a knowledge base to aid in customers being able to do self-service in handling their concerns, and as well as streamlined our customer support processes through creating a ticketing system, training our CS team, and establishing SOPs.

Hey @JmS1995 ,

With 9 years of experience in technology startups focusing on customer success, your leadership role in minimizing churn and achieving upsells sounds great! However, your GMAT score of 585 and GPA of 3.19 are below the averages for competitive MBA programs. Consider retaking the GMAT to aim for at least 690-700, anything above this would make you more competitive. Target programs that value diverse backgrounds, such as those with a strong tech focus. Articulate your passion for the technology sector and how your experiences have shaped your career goals. Explain why you are pursuing an MBA and how it will help you transition or advance within the tech industry. Engage in networking opportunities with current students and alumni from your target schools. This can provide insights into the application process and strengthen your candidacy.

If you’d like, we are happy to discuss more details about your academics, work experience, roles and responsibilities, challenges faced, achievements, impact, post- MBA goals and extracurriculars to assess your chances better for top B-schools.

Cheers!

Hello Shantanu, thank you for your reply. The score you mentioned, that means I should get at least 645-655 in the new scoring system right? I think that's the equivalent.

Yes, however, try to get 655+ for a safer side. Higher, the better.

Hi JmS1995
Priyanka here from ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, you should begin with analyzing what would work in your favor and what would not. 9 years of work experience including work at startups looks impressive. Talk about challenges faced at the startups and how as a team were you able to contribute to overcome them. Talk about impact, leadership skills and international exposure if any. Now, your GPA and GMAT are definitely below average for your target programs. For overcoming a low GPA and GMAT score, consider strategies that highlight your strengths elsewhere.
Do you have any other academic achievement that would compensate for your low GPA. For GMAT, a retake is recommended, you should focus on a score close to 655-665 atleast. Submitting strong recommendations that emphasize your leadership, and problem-solving skills can help showcase your contributions at your workplace.
