Undergrad: Business Economics from Delhi University. Held leadership positions in two clubs including a social service club.

Work ex: 2 years at a boutique market research firm. ~4 years at a Big 4 spanning across deals and market intelligence, 1 promotion.

Post-MBA goal is to move to a front-end, client-facing role within consulting or pivot to PE if feasible.

Region targeted: Europe/US

I understand that my GRE score is average. I am trying to understand if I can still apply with the current score as I am not too inclined towards retaking the test.

Hey. your profile is solid overall, especially the 6 years in consulting with a Big 4 and a promotion. That gives you credibility for both front-end consulting and even PE, assuming you can show strong exposure to deals and financial modeling.

GRE 320 is serviceable, especially for HEC and McCombs, but borderline for LBS, where the Indian/consulting pool is quite competitive. If you’re confident the rest of your app (essays, recs, goals) is good, you can apply with this score. But a modest retake to 325+ would open more doors and help with scholarships too.

GPA is okay, not a red flag. Just make sure to show quant readiness through your work or certifications if needed. If you can sharpen your “consulting to PE” pivot (make PE the longer-term play), and show recent leadership or community involvement, you’ll be in a good position for all three schools.

You’re in the game. just need to package it well.✅

Hi @chailife ! On the surface, your profile appears to be quite appealing. Starting with your professional experience, 6 years of hard work will help you to provide plenty of stories about leadership and impact. Your promotion also demonstrates you as a high-performing individual. If you have any professional achievements, please include them in your application; this will boost your professional credibility.

Your post-MBA goals seem good, but you'll need to explain why and prove how your present work experience aligns with it. 320 is a decent score. Also, from the details you shared here, I would consider it average for LBS. Have you had any international experience? Recently, one of our applicants was admitted to LBS with a 326 GRE score. She was a marketing associate.

Overall, you do have a shot and it all depends on your overall profile. We would like to know more about your profile to better assess your possibilities. If you’d like to connect, feel free to schedule a 1:1 session with us at your convenience.

Hi chailife
Priyanka here from ARINGO. Speaking about your profile. 6 years of consulting experience, especially along with that Big 4 promotion speaks to your capabilities.

Your GPA looks decent, while a 320 on GRE is kind of okay. Are you up for a retake? A score close to 325 can genuinely strengthen your chances. Your target schools value well-rounded applicants. LBS, for instance, values global exposure and leadership. While McCombs is known for its strong consulting network.

You should work on aligning your consulting projects with the unique strengths of the schools you are targeting. Really digging deep into those "why" questions will be crucial for your applications. Also, have you considered classifying your school list into target, reach and safe? Plus, think about adding a few more schools to your list.

Hi @chailife,

Your profile presents a strong foundation for an MBA application, with over six years of experience, including a promotion and time spent in a Big 4 across deals and market intelligence, as well as leadership roles in university clubs, including social service.

However, your GRE score of 320 is slightly below the average for top programs in the US and Europe. While it’s not necessarily a dealbreaker, a higher score would improve your competitiveness. If you choose not to retake the GRE, it will be essential to ensure that the rest of your application—your essays, recommendations, and demonstrated impact at work—stands out.

Your post-MBA goal of transitioning into a front-end consulting role aligns well with your background and should be a logical step. However, pivoting into private equity may be more challenging without prior direct finance or investment banking experience.

Highlighting your leadership, career progression, and impact will be key to making a compelling case for admission. To maximize your chances, consider applying to a balanced mix of reach, target, and safety schools. Feel free to schedule a complimentary call with our MBA consultants for a more detailed discussion. Hi @
chailife Have worked with enough backend consulting profiles, and I understand it well enough to tell you that the topmost schools will need some extra convincing to trust your ability to make the switch to the most coveted front-end consulting roles post-MBA. If you are serious about schools like LBS, you should ideally look for purposeful internships or job opportunities in your target sector in the PE or investments space.

These top schools receive a lot of interest from research-focused backend consultants who are all counting on the MBA to make a drastic career switch. Anyone who can showcase that they are able to hack growth on their own pre-MBA will be the one receiving special interest from the crème de la crème of schools. HEC and McCombs are doable. Your GRE should certainly be better. Feel free to speak in a one-to-one discussion.

Best wishes
