Aim to score 695+ on the GMAT. Ensure you enroll in the Forte Foundation program. Be pragmatic in school selection based on deep research on schools. Most schools are different from others in some respect. Else, a seemingly strong profile should be getting admitted to every school.

Hello,

Thanks for sharing your profile! With good exp. as a female candidate from India which is still an underrepresented segment in MBA programs, you have a fair chance ahead. Your GPA is decent, but aim for 710+ GMAT to stay competitive across this M7-heavy list. Also, don’t overlook schools like Kellogg and Tuck.

Thank you for sharing your profile @TechConsulting , your GPA of 7.75 is decent, slightly below average at M7 schools like Wharton, Booth, Sloan, or Columbia. That said, GPA is just one part of the story, and your upcoming GMAT performance will carry significant weight, especially as Indian applicants often come from highly competitive pools. If you can aim for a GMAT Focus score 665+, you can be in a good position across most of your schools, with 695+ making you more competitive at M7 programs. Given that you come from a consulting + tech background (a highly represented demographic), scoring well will help you stand out on the academic side. Do you have a mock score?

Your professional background is a clear strength. Nearly 3 years at Deloitte in technology consulting, followed by a similar role at PwC, reflects consistency, progression, and credibility. Big 4 experience is highly respected in MBA admissions, particularly when applicants have demonstrated client-facing impact, cross-functional collaboration, and some form of leadership or initiative. If you’ve had exposure to global projects, large-scale transformations, or have driven measurable outcomes for clients, make sure to emphasize that. Admissions officers are not just looking for where you worked, but what you did, how you led, and what makes your contributions distinctive. If you’re able to show increased responsibility, thought leadership, or have worked on high-visibility digital transformation projects, those will significantly enhance your profile.

That said, your post-MBA goal of staying in consulting is a double-edged sword. While it makes sense (and is a natural progression), it’s also a very common goal, particularly among Indian applicants. To stand out, you'll need to provide greater specificity. For example: What type of consulting? What industries or functions are you drawn to? Why consulting again, and how would an MBA help you pivot or elevate your career differently than just continuing to rise through the ranks without one? Admissions committees want to see clarity of vision and intentionality. If you can connect your consulting experience to a broader mission, perhaps around digital innovation, healthcare, sustainability, or social impact, that will help differentiate you from the sea of generalist consulting applicants.

In terms of extracurriculars and personal story, this is an area where you can truly shine and tilt the odds in your favor. As for international diversity, being a female applicant from India in consulting does place you in a somewhat overrepresented pool, but your Big 4 background and transition between firms shows initiative and adaptability. That said, you’ll want to double down on the why now and & why MBA questions to help admissions committees understand what you’re seeking to transform, not just continue.

HI @TechConsulting,
I'd love to know more about your profile! Unfortunately the info here is not enough to very accurately assess your chances at the top MBA programs and you have plenty of those on your list. All of the top b-schools are super competitive so you will have to really differentiate yourself from a large pool of applicants with similar work experience like yours. Its not something which can't be done, but its important for you to keep this in mind. I will list out a few things that you should have in your profile or you could work upon over the coming few months before R1 application dates:
1. Have a rock solid GMAT score. Something close to a 695 would surely help.
2. Work experience- Adcoms would expect to see career progression and your achievements (preferably quantified). They would want to see leadership skills like taking initiative and driving projects, client management and relationship building, ability to influence and convince others and collaborate with them to achieve common goals. As you moved between two similar companies and possibly similar roles, you would want to demonstrate how the current role is in some way a step up over the past role. This would be an important element as you worked with Deloitte for 3 years, which is substantial and so you will have to show an upward career trajectory.
3. Extra curricular activities- These are not just associated with what you did at college, but also what you have done since college. If you have not been involved in any ECAs since graduating, now is a good time to build upon them. It is a little late, given R1 applications will be due in roughly 4.5 months, but you can take these up in a strategic way so that they blend with your past experiences and interests. If you already have substantial ECAs, then ofcourse, there is nothing to worry.
4. Lastly, you should start thinking deeply about your career goals. Even if you plan to remain in consulting, you will have to come up with a plausible story top explain why this is the best career path for you.
I'd be happy to have a discussion with you should you be interested. Feel free to set up a free profile evaluation call (links in signature)

Hi @TechConsulting
Thanks for sharing your profile!

A 7.75 CGPA is decent but not strong enough for the schools you are targeting. To compensate this, try to achieve a GMAT score between the 720-730 range. You’ve got an admirable professional repertoire, especially since you have worked with two Big4 firms. That said, technology consulting is a relatively common applicant background, so to differentiate your profile, you’ll need to be specific about:
• The types of projects you've led or contributed to,
• The technologies/tools you've worked with,
• The measurable outcomes you’ve driven,
• How your work impacted the client organization’s performance or operations.

When it comes to your post-MBA goals, clarity is critical. Are you aiming to pivot into strategy consulting, or are you looking to grow within techno-management consulting? Are there specific industries such as AI implementation or data strategy that you’re targeting? Clearly articulating this will help admissions committees understand both your motivation for an MBA and how their program aligns with your career trajectory.
Given your domain expertise, schools like Ross, Johnson, Tuck, and Tepper represent a strong fit. That said, a competitive GMAT score will be crucial not just to maximize your chances at these schools but also to push into more ambitious targets like Wharton, Sloan, Booth, and Kellogg.

We’d love to offer a 1-on-1 profile evaluation to dive deeper into your strengths, talk through your fit across schools, and co-create a tailored application game plan!

Hi @TechConsulting,

Your work experience across Deloitte and PwC provides a strong foundation for your MBA application. Your undergraduate GPA of 7.75/10 is decent, but given the competitive applicant pool, especially among Indian candidates from tech and consulting backgrounds - you should aim for a GMAT score of 685+ to remain competitive at top MBA programs.

Highlighting your leadership, professional achievements, career goals, unique experiences, and fit with the program effectively will be crucial in crafting a compelling application. To maximize your chances, consider applying to a balanced mix of reach, target, and safety schools. Feel free to book a free call with our MBA consultants for a more detailed discussion.
