Most of the top schools won't let you postpone a decision.

Thanks...
I just wanted to make sure that it is not binding...
Has any one postponed their decision dates??

binding? indentured servitude is illegal in the US :-D

It is similar to walking away from buying a house if you are the buyer and you already paid your deposit. you lose the deposit, but otherwise you just move on.

Walking away is fine after the deposit, but make sure you notify the school. After you make the desposit, school will assume you are attending until you don't show up for the orientation. This really mess up the class size and you are taking away a slot that would have gone to someone else.

As a note on the binding. If you applied Early Action and renege on your decision, this is generally considered unethical.

Of course it is possible. Remember, this is your life and career. The school won't really care all that much, at this point you aren't much more than an application to them :) They will simply go to the next name on their list and you'll make someone on the waitlist very happy!
