Dengue fever is transmitted to humans through mosquito bites. On the island of Gilmoria, extensive efforts have been made to prevent mosquitoes from entering buildings, so mosquitoes primarily bite people outside. Gilmoria’s current rainy season has been particularly severe, resulting in an increase in the number of pools of standing water, in which mosquitoes breed. Therefore, when new statistics are published, they will probably indicate an increase in the number of cases of Dengue fever in Gilmoria.

Which of the following is an assumption on which the argument depends?

A. The increased humidity resulting from a severe rainy season does not cause people to stay inside more often.

B. The healthcare system on Gilmoria has sufficient resources to treat a higher number of cases of Dengue fever than it did in previous years.

C. The number of mosquitoes on Gilmoria has increased by at least as large a percentage as has the number of cases of Dengue fever.

D. During the dry season, some of the pools of standing water do not completely dry up.

E. The severity of the Dengue cases this year will be unchanged

A. Looks good. Ig you negate A conclusion weakens
B. Out of scope. Question doesn't ask if healthcare system has enough resources
C. Even if the number of mosquitoes doesn't increase by at least as large as has the number of cases then what? One mosquito may bite a few people
D. Out of scope
E. Out of scope
