i am confused between b and e , because e uses new terms , otherwise e should be the obvious choice. can anyone explain in detail what exactly is wrong with b ?

Since both exceedingly short time and scarcely sufficient refer to the time that is 4000 years. All other choices are not providing this reference.
What is an OA Plz do provide OA with every post. I request moderators to take this into consideration that people should provide OA and if not available then should provide the source of the question.
@ saptarishi maharaj , first of all , 'according to me' is wrong English. and the OA is given as E that is why i have put this question up for discussion. the question is from mgmat q-bank , now please...
@ experts on the forum , does (4000 years ago) represent a time period to be used as 'exceedingly short time' ?
using 'divergence' in E implies bringing in new terminology and that is what confused me . is that valid on the gmat ?
