Hello,
After 5 months of study that included 12 mock tests of various companies, I scored a devastating 550 (Q42 V23) on my recent GMAT test in October. ---Its a pretty lengthy account so thanks a lot for bearing with me---

My goal was to reach a score above 710 by September end. My preparation started in June this year with eGMAT's 2 months course, after my initial score in the 1st GMAT prep mock exam was 540 (Q49 V17) . My study plan was as recommended by the mentor at Egmat i.e. I had to start with Quant even though I was not in a bad shape initially. However, eGMAT's Quant course has flaws at various places which actually affected my own methods for solving quant problems, - this, actually dented my confidence in my ability to perform in the chapter-end tests - which, in turn, resulted in decline in my quant scores although, there was a little improvement in my verbal scores. Thereafter, I shifted to Manhattan Prep guides and concentrated on my Verbal which actually helped me at first and there was a noticeable change in my verbal scores, but, my quant scores started to decline - probably, due to lack of practice. GMAT club has been a great source for practice and inspiration for me. I achieved a peak score of 710 in Experts Global mock (Q48 V40) which gave me a boost of confidence, however, from then on, it was a downhill for me and whatever I studied went down the drain. Following are all the mock tests I had appeared for:

06-18-2023 Gmat Prep Mock#1 540 Q49 V17
08-19-2023 Egmat Mock#2 610 Q44 V29 - after completion of Egmat course
09-12-2023 GMAT Whiz Mock#1 630 Q49 V27
09-17-2023 Gmat Prep Mock#1 _Repeat 700 Q50 V34
09-22-2023 Egmat Mock#1_Repeat 630 Q46 V30
09-30-2023 Manhattan prep Mock#1 640 Q44 V34
10-08-2023 Experts global Mock#1 710 Q48 V40 - Peak results
10-22-2023 Gmat Prep Mock#2 650 Q47 V33
10-23-2023 Manhattan prep Mock#2 630 Q46 V31
10-24-2023 Manhattan prep Mock#3 630 Q44 V32
10-25-2023 Manhattan prep Mock#4 630 Q42 V33
10-31-2023 GMAT Final 550 Q42 V23 - Final GMAT Score

On the day of the exam, I started with Verbal, as always, but when the first question came in, I completely blanked out... it felt like I don't know anything...and I could not think where to start from. It actually came as a surprise because I was perfectly alright just before the start of the exam. By the time I composed myself, I had lost atleast 20 minutes and the questions that I answered during this period and this snowballed and affected my quant performance as well.
I must also be honest that I was not in the best of health when I started my preparation and am still recovering after an unsuccessful surgery in mid-year - this was the reason I couldn't fix a date for the exam before-hand . Also I am currently employed, and have a family, and inspite of this, I did give my 100% with whatever time I had in the whole day. I lost atleast 3 Kgs in the process, couldn't spend time with my family and gave minimal effort in my work so that I could concentrate entirely on Gmat preparation.
So, at the end of the exam, when the 550 came up on screen...I didn't know what to do and still, after 3 days, am in the same state. The 3rd round applications are going to close soon so getting a chance in the 2024-25 session is out of the window. However, I want to try one more time before I finally give up on this as I have 11 years experience already and my chances of getting a good program is getting slimmer. I would like to request the GMAT Club experts and members to provide their valuable insights and guidance. Should I join another course and relearn every bit from scratch or go for attack and build on specific weaknesses? Thanks to GMAT club moderators and members for being able to share my story.

It's important to remember that the GMAT is just one part of your journey and not a reflection of your entire potential. It's completely normal to feel overwhelmed, especially after such an intense period of preparation and personal hardship.

From your mock test scores, it's evident that you have the capability to score well. It seems that the pressure of the actual test environment may have impacted your performance more than your understanding of the material itself. This is a common experience and can be managed with the right strategies.

Taking a multitude of mock tests is good practice, but the quality of these practice sessions is crucial. It's not just about taking the tests; it's about analyzing your performance thoroughly afterward to understand where you went wrong and why. This analysis is key to making each mock test a valuable learning experience.

Before you consider relearning everything from scratch, take some time to relax and recover from your recent efforts. Once you're ready, consider a targeted approach to address specific weaknesses. This could be more beneficial than going through all the material again.

Remember, your health and well-being are paramount.
