total money is 100
so textbook ; 1/4 *100 ; 25 ; left 75
notebook ; 25 ; left 50
50/100 ; 1/2 ; .5 IMO C ; is closest

Bunuel ; the answer should be 50% of the total amount ,but the answer options are not matching .. how is 17/24 valid? please provide solution

i think 11/24 could be the right answer.
But I got 12/24
Suppose she had $24 originally.
she spent 1/4th money on textbook i.e. $6.
She bought another item of the same price as of the textbook i.e. $6
She will eventually land up with 12/24 money.
I don't understand what I am doing wrong here.
