U guys can make out how excited i am... Well captured the 7XX beast..
With Q-49 and V-38 (710)..
This was my second attempt. The last time i took GMAT was on 30th Dec and had got 670.Was pretty much dissatisfied as 7XX was the dream... So now i can just put up my feet in air , booze and forget abt taking this beast again...
Here is my rambling when i took it for the first time
https://www.gmatclub.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=25089
Strategies and all u can find in plenty on this site..I am not a 750+ scorer, so there are many people much much better than me who can tell what to do and what not to..
For me the only difference in my approach last time and this time was this site..
Folks you wont believe that i did nothing, practically nothing , NO
OG, no KAPLAN, but just the site..Every evening after work i log into the Verbal section and try to answer each question..In the beginning i got many wrongs, but there were friends around who corrected me, changed the way i used to think about SC's..If i have to give credit to anyone for this 7XX score, it would be none other than some of my pals like/as(
) Vivek, MATT, Bhai, ps_dahiya,Joemama,TeHCM,giddi(Girish),gmacvik...and not to mention Paul who has done a fabulous job by managing this site...
last week:
I thought of not taking the test. The atmosphere at the work was really political and i just couldnt do anything in the last week. So decided against taking the test.. Thanks to the inspirational advice of Vivek, Girish and TEHCM that i thought to take the test... But i wasnt nervous at all becoz i knew that i was giving this test just for satisfaction..otherwise i would loose 250$...Was not confident but was not tensed either...
Exam Day:
I went in 1 hr earlier, because the traffic in Chicago sometimes really gets bad. Incidentally i shared the lift with a cute girl..She was so tensed and shivering that i couldnt stop myself from asking her if she too was taking an exam..She said yes and said "Touch my palm and you would know how scared i am"..
I tried to boost her confidence and gave her a big hug
I didnt even bothered what i was writing during for the AWA, just some S&*T..
Quant: The whole time i was thinking of that gal
and contemplating plans on how to ask her phone number
. The second quest was deadly..It took me almost 5 minutes..Som stupid Trigonometry quest where in i goofed up..But i had decided tht i wont move on unless i solved that..Foolish thinking...Anyways i m sure i got it right...Then suddenly from Q-10 to Q25 i was bombarded by DS question...specially the number propoerties, inequalities.(i still hate those), but not of the level that we discuss on this site. Only 1 prob question i got, which was very simple..3-4 range and SD questions, 5-8 Trigonometry question albeit simple ones.
Finished the quant 20 min early... I was sure of getting 50 but
Took the break and ate a Power bar...
Verbal : It again scre&* me up. Started with 5 liner SC, with almost evrything underlined...Took me 4 mintues just to read all choices...i am sure i wud have got it wrong.. 60% of the questions were SC's and all very long ..I would seriously recommend people to practice long SC's under time limit...The level of the difficulty was the same as i had seen during my first attempt at GMAT.. On 7th question i got the first RC, 2 paras and a simple one but a physicological one
And then again an RC..Both these Rc's spoilt my timing... on 21st question again an RC and the last RC i saw was at 28th Ques.. CR's were tough..I could nail it to two choices, but after that it was just guess work ( i did this in almost 3-4 CR's/8)
Enough of bakwaas/rambling now...before Paul kicks me out for discussing my fantasies on this site;)
Its time to swim in booze today...
ps_dahiya : I hope you remember that you would put me in a pool of booze once you get 750.
Cheers,
Anand
