I don't remember where I read this but it seems to be stuck in my mind. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I read that a higher verbal score will boost the overall score more than a higher quant score would. For example, if someone scores 97% in V but 85% in Q they can still pull a high score.

I had a friend that did just that and scored a 750. Thoughts?

Definitely true. Higher verbal will help boost your score. Of course, once you start getting closer to the 99th%, you need to score high in both. For the low end of the 700s and high 600s, a higher verbal will boost your score.

I think it's the gmat's way of weeding out the IT quant specialists.

Thank you for your response. My legal training has certainly helped with the verbal section. It's the math that confounds me! :)

The friend that got the 750 is a law school classmate.
