Hello!
I currently own the fifth edition of the MGMAT study guide and plan on writing the Gmat this fall/early spring of 2016. I noticed that there has been a newly released sixth edition and got curious. Has there been any changes in the structure of the GMAT or the underlying theory required for test takers that I should be aware of?
I also noticed that the OG, of which I own the 13th edition, had a few new updated editions; one being released this summer. Just as with the MGMAT books, are there any updates of which I should be aware?
In short:
I was studying for the GMAT during my first year of my bachelor degree and then put it on hold. Will my current material be sufficient or should I invest in the updated versions of the study material?

Hi Markus,
The OG13 and GMAT2015 are the same book (the GMAT2015 comes with some online tools to use in conjunction with the book though). The GMAT2016 is supposedly going to contain about 25% new material, which means that certain questions will be 'cycled out' of the OG13/GMAT2015 and replaced with new questions. This does NOT mean that the questions that will be cycled out are worthless. The recent copies of all of the books that you've mentioned will be fine for you to study with. There has not been a huge shift in the GMAT in a number of years.
You have to define your goals and figure out how you learn best. You'll find that there are LOTS of different GMAT resources that can help you during your studies. Regardless of how you choose to proceed, you'll likely find that you'll need MORE than just books if your goal is to score at a high level.
It sounds like you've given yourself plenty of time to study though, which is good. Have you though about any other aspects of your overall plan?
1) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
2) Have you thought about which Schools you might apply to?
3) What is your score goal?

Thanks a ton for your reply! It sure made me feel a bit less stressed out.
I am planning on applying to business school during the first quarter of next year, primarily at some Scandinavian schools. My goal is to score within the range of 650 and 700,hopefully closer to the latter(of course:)).
I have not as of yet started laying out a pure study plan, as I want to start off with going through the basic theory behind the test. For this reason I am reading through the study guides of MGMAT as well as the OGs and answering test questions here on GMATclub related to the subjects I've recently studied.
Once I'm done with this first "stage", I will try to zero in on my weak spots and improve on those areas by using an error log. After that I might putting up a real study plan.
I am, however, interested in any suggestions and pointers I can get. Could you give me any recommendations given my rough study outline and somewhat early starting point?
