I am hoping to use MGMAT and the OG to prepare for the test, but am having a hard time making sure I am getting materials that will work for me. When you buy the books for MGMAT and OG, do they automatically come with access to some kind of full-book PDF for studying on a pc, tablet, etc.? If not, is there a way to buy digital copies of the books (something that doesn't require internet connection for access, like PDFs)? I want to make sure I am buying materials that do not require a physical book to get the full benefit.

It sounds like you're really interested in the convenience of not having to carry around a huge book (or a bunch of smaller books). Thankfully, there are plenty of options when it comes to GMAT resources.
Are you just starting out your studies?
What is your score goal?
When are you planning to take the GMAT?
Most GMAT Companies offer some type of free materials (practice problems, Trial Accounts, videos, etc.) that you can use to 'test out' a product before you buy it. We have a variety of those resources at out site (www.empowergmat.com). I suggest that you take advantage of all of them then choose the one that best matches your personality, timeline and budget.

Not the MGMAT Guides. You can buy these in the Kindle format however, and use on anything... they are cheaper this way too!
OG seems/claims to have some kind of an online companion but it is not a PDF and it is not very helpful. There is a new guide coming out in a few weeks and that may have better PDF/online resources. As a side note, GMAC does offer an Android and iPhone apps with their questions though you have to pay for them in addition or instead of the book.
