Bad at explaining but i think original one is a fragment
B. Serves might mean after dissapearance of record it is still here
C.seems by dissapearing record is evidence. Meaning is odd
D. The last ing part is not logically connect to the subject the geological record.
So I choose E
But experts will give better explainations 👍
