Hi thompstc,

Since you're still early-on in your studies, we won't know if 'your way' of studying for the GMAT will be enough for you to hit your goals. I suggest that you study as you see fit for the next 2-3 weeks, then take a new FULL-LENGTH CAT (with the Essay and IR sections). That score result will help to define whether you're improving or not and we can then discuss what changes (if any) you should make to your study plan.

Thanks, Rich. I'll do exactly that. If I need an adjustment, what would be some effective, different ways to prep? Also, I'm really new here. What's your background? Are you an instructor? Would love to keep in touch..you're the first person to really reach out to me on the boards. Good to know I'm not in solitary confinement preparing for this..

Hi Travis,

When it comes to preparing for the GMAT, there are LOTS of different possibilities and a variety of resources that you can use. Every Test Taker has his/her own needs though, so you should be sure to work with products that best match your personality. I'm a GMAT Expert and Co-Founder of the EMPOWERgmat Course (if you click my profile or any of the links in the Sig File under my posts, you can read a bit about who we are and what we do).

Great. I just looked over the empower website. Seems very well put together. I'm intrigued. Your business interest aside, would you advise going ahead and starting up with it now? Or still wait to see how my book based method will work? Seems like empower would get me where I want to be if I am consistent.

Of course I would talk it over with my chief strategic consultant (aka my better half) :)

Hi Travis,

At the very least, you should do your due diligence and work through the free practice materials. Since your 'deadline' isn't immediate, I still think that you have some 'wiggle room' to study as you see fit for the next couple of weeks. If you'd rather jump right in and set up a Full Account now, then that's certainly fine too. Many Test Takers benefit from the structure of a full Course (regardless of the specific Course that they choose), so if you'd prefer to have that structure right now, then that's a good reason to enroll.
