Hii,
I need help !for CR, have been studying and practicing for last 1 month..i used to go through each concept,for eg.Assumption from powerscore and then solve only those types on gmatclub forums and later on solve gmatprep questions only of assumption types..for each and every type of CR i tried the same process and my accuracy was between 85-90 percent on all prep qstions..i used to take 3 mins for some,4mins for some,and even 5 mins for some questions to get to right answer..now wen i try to solve CR within 2 mins,m unable to select right choice..could u please provide ur key insights ?m really disheartened..
Now,m plannig to solve gmat toolkit CR from the forum,and the CR questions of gmatclub tests of various companies by preparing quizzes and trying to solve them in 2 mins or less,for next 10-15days. in total,400 forum qstions on toolkit and 200 CRs from prep companies..solving all of them in timed conditions..i have a very bad feeling that m gona mess up and end up with 50 percent accuracy..though m gona maintain an error log.
Please provide me with ur valuable insights so that i cud make an effort in right direction..

Here's my take on CR. First, depending on the type of question that is being asked, you will mostly likely be finding assumptions. MOST CR questions will have an assumption where it goes something like this... "The argument assumes that there are no other factors affecting the conclusion". Try to see if that is a reasonable assumption based on the argument. ALWAYS look for the BIG assumptions. Don't think too widely, don't think about things that weren't in the article but could possibly affect whatever it is talking about based on your own experience or knowledge. You will waste too much time thinking about the super subtle assumptions.
Next, when you have a few obvious assumptions down, look at the question stem. Does it say Weaken? If so, look for an option that paraphrases one of your assumptions. Does it say "Strengthen"? If so, look for an answer that addresses directly one of your assumptoins. If it makes you go like "Ohhh, ya, that definitely relates to one of my assumptions" Then that perticular choice is probably the right one.
The real "Trick" here is to move on with the choices once you deem that the choice is way too irrelevant or doesn't relate to the question stem at all.
Also, magoosh is a great resource for both Quant and Verbal. Not sure if my post helped but that's the way I went about CR on the real test.

Yea..!assumptions play a key role..!m sure this approach is gona help me reduce timming issues..!thankx mate..can u please tell me,whether the actual test questions of CR similar to or difficult than the official questions in 'The most comprehensive collection of evry thing official' file which is available to download here?and which official material did u refer during ur preparation for CR and wat ur accuracy used to be on those questions and timming?
