I just got back from the testing center.
I'm totally dissapointed in my verbal score given the amount of prep I put in for this. I gave the exam back in Feb and scored a lousy 620 I think Q was 44 and V was 31. I knew I had to improve dramatically so I studied hard. I studied all the basic principles of math and then I dove straight into SC. SC was by far my weakest area. I would get at best maybe 10 right out 16 (earlier this year). I practiced all the hard questions in the OG and studied MGMAT SC book and did well on the MGMAT verbal sections (37~38). I also tried to be involved with this forum on both verbal and math. On on my second set of attempts on GMATprep around 2 months ago (I had completed both earlier this year) I scored a 36, on my second I scored a 41 (both had some repeats). But I thought atleast I'll be in the 38 range for V. The RC and CR were never my weak areas. RC was actually my best area with on average 2-3 wrong per section, CR was not my best area but I was getting about 4 wrong on this section.
Now I'm confused. I dont know what else to do to prepare for the GMAT. I've exhausted all my resources. My V scores are not reflective of my normal abilities. I dont know whether I should give it one more attempt. My target schools have medians in the range of 670-690.
I welcome any thoughts or criticism you may have on my technique or what I should do next.

If you have a strong overall application, this GMAT score will not keep you out of schools with such medians. If you are lacking in one area (GPA for instance), you should do it again!

No offernse, but I'm kind of tired of seing this "it won't keep you out" answer in response to almost every GMAT score question. The fact is that 650 will not keep you out of most schools, and a 3.1 GPA will not keep you out, and a complete lack of extracurricular activities will not keep you out. But it's silly to think that everyone with a score between 630 & 780 is on equal footing. If you want to go to an elite school and your score is in the low to mid 600s, you need to be spectacular in every other area of your application.
Now, in response to your posting agsfaltex, my reaction is that your Q score is pretty good. Competition is rough these days in the Q section, but since you got 47 on the real thing, it's certainly conceivable that you could get another point or two if you work hard, and that would put you into an elite range that many schools really like.
Regarding your V score, my reaction is that you are probably on the bounardy of getting medium and hard questions in the CAT. If you can find a way to master one of the 3 question types, you might be able to push yourself into the hard questions, and minimize any difficulties you have with the other question types. For example, if you can get really good with CR and struggle with SC, you might push the test to only give you only very difficult SC questions, which wouldn't hurt you as much if you miss them. On the other hand, if you have moderate skill with all question types, you might just work within the range of medium questions which will always result in a mid-level score.
I think that you have some possibilities, but time is getting short for this application season. It's still possible to study for 4-6 weeks, re-take the exam and make the second round application deadlines; but with time running down, I think it's important to have a plan for how to study.

Certainly a 750 is better than a 650, but whether to retake all depends on his/her situation. I've seen people spend a lot of time on the GMAT to the detriment of their work/family/application essays. If he/she has a good reason to believe that the exam did not go well for a specific reason (eg. time,specific question type,illness), or he has no pressing concerns for the next six weeks, I think he/she should go for it. Don't overestimate the importance of the GMAT, though.
