Hi there,

It's great to see your enthusiasm for reapplying to ESCP and HEC Paris! Here are some thoughts on your queries:

1. Does this affect my candidature?
Generally, not confirming your admission last year shouldn't negatively impact your current application. Admissions committees understand that candidates may face unforeseen circumstances. However, it’s important to address this in your application or interview, explaining your situation briefly and positively, focusing on your continued interest in the program.

2. What happens if I apply with the same GMAT score and a very similar profile?
Applying with the same GMAT score and a similar profile may not significantly enhance your chances, especially if the admissions committee sees that you were previously admitted but chose not to enroll. It would be beneficial to show growth or improvement in your application. Consider gaining additional experience, enhancing your profile with new skills, or achieving a higher GMAT score if possible.

3. Is it better to apply in R1 with the same profile or in R2 with an even more well-crafted profile?
If you can improve your profile by R2, it’s generally better to wait and apply then. R1 can be competitive, and having a stronger application will likely yield better results. Use the extra time to refine your essays, gather new recommendations, or gain relevant experience that can strengthen your candidacy.

Ultimately, focus on presenting a compelling narrative about your journey and why you are a great fit for the programs. Good luck with your application!

Before applying again, take some time for self-reflection. Seek feedback from multiple resources to understand what went wrong. If you can diagnose your weaknesses, it will help you to identify areas of improvement and strengthen your profile for better chances. For some, the problem could be academics (low GMAT) or applying in a later round, or lack of professional skills or managerial experience, etc.
Try applying in early-round: While one must apply when all aspects of their application are at peak, try best applying in early rounds. The chances are best in Round 1- not only for admission but also for scholarships.
Re-evaluate resume, application form, interview, videos, recommendation, etc.: While essays and the above-mentioned points are important, the other aspects of your application are equally important. A resume for example is the first thing that adcoms look at. So, it should capture all key points of your profile well.

Hi everyone,
I have a very specific requirement to put forth and would really appreciate if you could help me solve my query. I had applied last year (round 3) through JASIF and got an admit to ESCP. However due to certain financial issues I did not go forward with confirming my admission. I am planning to apply again this year through JASIF for the Fall 25 intake, targetting ESCP and HEC Paris.

1. Does this affect my candidature?
2. What happens if I apply with the same GMAT score and a very similar profile (since its been only 4-5 months)?
3. Is it better to apply in R1 with the same profile or in R2 with an even more well crafted profile. I have heard that competition is quite high in R1.

Applying again won't hurt your chances, as schools value persistence. Since you didn't confirm your admission last year, please note any changes in your application. It's okay to use the same GMAT score and similar profile, given the short 4-5 month gap.

Regarding timing, you can try for R1 with the same profile, but it might be tougher. Another option is to go for R2 with a better application, giving you more time to strengthen it. Ultimately, just focus on submitting a compelling application that effectively shows off your skills and why you'd be a good fit for the programs.
