I went to a school that was transitioning from an A-F scale to a plus minus system...BUT during my tenure it was in an experimental mode where +/-'s were adopted for your letter grade but not factored into GPA calculation. There were a lot of issues with the inconsistent adoption by faculty of +/-'s.

My GPA is fine, but I want to know if I have to explain this circumstance or just leave it alone?

If your GPA is fine, then I'd probably not bother.

Unless your transcript looks funny. If it does, you may want to mention something. My undergrad school had a weird system - one course at a time. Students take one class for 3.5 weeks, get 4 days off, and then start a new class. I thought it was worth mentioning, because the transcript is a little weird (and because I thought the special format shows how fabulous I am).

3 week classes? Thats interesting. Everything crammed into a three week program... I like it.

I'm having issues with one school counting an A+ as 4.3 and another as 4.0... My undergrad school uses 4.0 as max, but when calculating each year's GPA, the other school I'm applying to says to use 4.3 for A+... very confusing.

I called their admissions office and they're like, "I'm very glad you're consciencious about this, but it's ok whatever method you use."

That didn't help much. :?

What they're saying, cheri, is don't sweat the small stuff. You've got plenty of big stuff to sweat over. Now go forth and conquer.

Thanks again aau, good to see you on the boards again! We missed you! (though we understand your schedule now that school has started).

Yeah, I think I'm worrying too much about small things. Doubts like, "What if they reject me later on because they found out that I used a 4.3 instead of a 4.0 for that one class I got an A+ in??? They'll ACCUSE me of inflating my GPA and being unethical! NOOOOOO!!!!!"

I know, a few months down the road I'll look back at these posts and go, "WTF? I was a nervous wreck!"... but right now... it seems safe to make sure about everything.
