You will not need trig but you will need some basic knowledge of prob/comb/perm. As a matter of fact, there are about 4-5 perm/comb problems in the PS section of the OG.
Thanks.
By the way, in case anyone is interested in knowing, I'm presently working my way through Arco's "How To Solve Algebra Word Problems", 3rd Edition (180 pages). I think it's a great introduction to the pedagogy of setting up and solving word problems. It's probably best appreciated by people with a non-math background (like me) who want to get a start on mastering this stuff.
I'm going to read Arco's book a second time, then I'm starting Barron's "Math Word Problems The Easy Way", by David Ebner, 2002 (396 pages).
If anyone else is working on getting a grip on word problems feel free to give me a buzz.
