B as addictive drugs, their abuse is - Incorrect. Awkward
C the abuse of such addictive drugs is - Correct
D the abuse of such addictive drugs are - Incorrect. Subject Verb Agreement error
E the abuse of them as addictive drugs is - Incorrect. Pronoun ambiguity
Since Doctors is used as the subject in the sentence 'their' can refer to Doctors or addictive drugs. C eliminates the discrepancy by using 'such addictive drugs'

If we look at the sentence then logically doctors cannot be abused it is only the medicine that can be abused. Hence I have this doubt. there is a sentence in @e-gmat course " in the accident, the car hit the tree, but its engine was not damaged" this sentence is correct because its can only refer to car and not tree.
Similar logic can be applide here and only painkillers can be abused here and not doctors. I am not saying that C is incorrect but had C not been there is option A correct. This is more from the point of geeting my concept clear rather than the correct answer.
