I have 8 years of work experience in IT/Software firm. Have done B.Tech(CS) from one of average universities in India. So, how good are my chances for admission to a good business school in or outside India(for regular MBA or Executive MBA programs) even if I score a considerable good GMAT score? My GPA is 2.3 and age is 33.

Yes, age is definitely a factor. The average age at most top school is 27 and average years of work experience is around 3-5. So you are on the upper end for both as you know. When you are above their averages, it hurts your candidacy and schools start to worry that you no longer need the degree.

Although you would be a bit on the low end of age and experience for some programs, you are a better fit for the EMBA. At CBS for example, the average years of experience is 9. At many schools the average is more like 10-13 years but you are still closer than you are for the full time MBA.

That said, your GPA is quite low and, as an Indian male coming from a technical background, you are coming from an extremely tough demographic and one that tends to have very high GMAT scores. Given your demographic, GPA and the fact that your years of work experience will be a bit on the low end, it will really be critical to score a high GMAT. If you want to apply to a top school, you'll want to shoot for at least a 720, and the higher the better given the challenges I mentioned.
