From what I heard from previous test takers is that gmac refreshers the pool of questions from time to time not completely but partially with the retired questions from GMAT

Posted from my mobile device

Thank you. I appreciate the info. I have last year's CD so I was able to compare those questions with the recent software download of GMATPrep. There are a bunch of new questions that I had not seen. So I guess I can be confident in my practice test score. I take the actual GMAT this coming Friday.

To my information GMATprep stays the same. There are companies that sell GMATPrep companions (explanations to the GMATPrep questions) and according to their records GMATPrep is not updated or refreshed at all.

I can't see any motivation or reason for GMAC to update it. I would be curious to hear any arguments why they should spend time and money on it.

As an FYI - GMATPrep contains close to 900 questions that eventually are translated into 2 tests. Hence people reinstall and re-take it multiple times and still see different questions. Thus, it is very hard to make a good judgement call based only on a sample of a few hundred.

Yeah, I wondered about this myself. There doesn't seem to be any real motivation on the part of GMAC to update it. I suppose since there are so many questions it makes sense that after a reinstall I would see a bunch of new questions. I guess I was surprised not to see any repeats. Interestingly, the CD I obtained last year has a bunch of questions from OG10. I have both OG11 and OG10.

I'm not complaining though! After taking both GMATPrep 1 and 2 four times the new questions certainly are great practice for my test this coming Friday. :-D

I'm pretty sure that GMAC updates the GMATPrep questions every once in a while. I'm a tutor who spends an embarrassing amount of time with the GMATPrep tests, both with my students and on my own. Just when I think that I've seen every single question at least three times, there seems to be a little wave of new stuff that shows up.

Could that just be coincidence? Possibly. It's a big question bank, but I'd bet that GMAC refreshes it from time to time. I don't think that they ever overhaul the entire question bank, but it seems that about 20-30% of the questions I've seen in the past month weren't in the software a couple of years ago.

(Somebody from GMAC is probably laughing at us for trying to figure this out.)

You should be able to do it either way, but most feel it is best to reinstall to drop any of the settings that may have been saved.. Not sure how much value that ads.
Try just doing it over - see if you get too many of the same questions.
